Variant name:GS HARDBACK ,Derivative:MK1 ,Variant: GS HARDBACK A unique project based on a 2001 Landrover Freelander GS. The aim of the project was to address the inherent design issues in the original Freelander and make it the ultimate fun greenlaning capable vehicle. The tired and saggy suspension was replaced with entirely new springs and shocks complemented with a new set of poly bushes throughout which improved handling immensely. Propshafts where reconditioned and the troublesome VCU replaced with an entirely new item. The standard fit underpowered 1.8 K series engine had done 95,000 miles and it was the replacement of this that constituted the main part of the work completed. A low mileage 1.8 Turbo K series engine was sourced from an MGZT complimented by a bespoke ECU from Z&T tuning specialists that endowed with a healthy but reliable 200BHP versus the standard 113BHP. On fitting the engine was fitted with an upgraded gasket kit and a custom built bespoke cooling system designed by 4x4 specialists. To ensure efficient stopping power with the improved performance the braking system was entirely renewed, not just with pads and discs but even new calipers. The vehicle comes complete with a now rare Landrover roof rack, freshly powder coated and bespoke boarding fitted to improve usability. Also if the full asking price is met an extremely rare original soft top folding roof will also be included in the sale which can be fitted instead of the removable hard top.
