In the early 1950s, Volkswagen was producing its economy car, the Type 1 (Beetle). With an increase in post-war standards of living, executives at Volkswagen proposed to contract with German coachbuilder Karmann for the manufacture of a coupé. Karmann in turn contracted the Italian firm Ghia, who adapted for it a Beetle floorpan widened by 12 in (300 mm). The design and prototype were well received by Volkswagen executives, and in August 1955 the first Type 14 was manufactured in Osnabrück, Germany. Public reaction to the Type 14 exceeded expectations, with over 10,000 sold in the first year. In September 1961, Volkswagen introduced the VW Karmann Ghia 1500, or Type 34 , based on its new Type 3 platform, featuring Volkswagen's new flat 1500cc engine design. Due to model confusion with the Type 14 1500 introduced in 1967, the Type 34 was known variously as the " Der Große Karmann " ("the big Karmann") in Germany, "Razor Edge Ghia" in the United Kingdom, or "European Ghia" (or "Type 3 Ghia" among enthusiasts) in the United States. Until it was replaced by the VW-Porsche 914, it was the most expensive and luxurious passenger car VW manufactured in the 1960s — back then you could have

Lowered price from €37.500 -> €33.750 In the early 1950s, Volkswagen was producing its economy car, the Type 1 (Beetle). With an increase in post-war standards of living, executives at Volkswagen proposed adding a halo car to its model range, contracting with German coachbuilder Karmann for its manufacture. Karmann in turn contracted the Italian firm Ghia. In contrast to the Beetle's machine welded-body with bolt-on fenders, the Karmann Ghia's body panels were butt-welded, hand-shaped and smoothed with English pewter in a time-consuming process commensurate with higher-end manufacturers – and resulting in the Karmann Ghia's higher price. The design and prototype were well received by Volkswagen executives, and in August 1955 the first Type 14 was manufactured in Osnabrück, Germany. Public reaction to the Type 14 exceeded expectations, with over 10,000 sold in the first year. In September 1961, Volkswagen introduced the VW 1500 Karmann Ghia , or Type 34 , based on its new Type 3 platform, featuring Volkswagen's new flat 1500cc engine design, and styling by Italian engineer Sergio Sartorelli. Due to model confusion with the Type 14 1500 introduced in 1967, the Type 34 was known vario
The Volkswagen Beetle, officially called the Volkswagen Type 1 (or informally the Volkswagen Bug), is an economy car produced by the German auto maker Volkswagen (VW) from 1938 until 2003. With over 21 million manufactured in an air-cooled, rear-engined, rear-wheel drive configuration, the Beetle is the longest-running and most-manufactured car of a single design platform, worldwide. Although designed in the 1930s, the Beetle was only produced in significant numbers from 1945 on, when the model was internally designated the Volkswagen Type 1, and marketed simply as the "Volkswagen". Later models were designated VW 1200, 1300, 1500, 1302 or 1303, the former three indicating engine displacement and the latter two being derived from the type number and not indicative of engine capacity. The model became widely known in its home country as the Käfer (German for "beetle") and was later marketed as such in Germany, and as the Volkswagen Beetle in other countries. In the 1950s, the Beetle was more comfortable and powerful than most European small cars, having been designed for sustained high speed on the Autobahn. It remained a top seller in the U.S., owing much of its su
Lowered price from €36.950 -> €35.000 The Volkswagen Type 2, known officially, depending on body type as the Transporter, Kombi and Microbus, and informally as the Bus (US) or Camper (UK), is a panel van introduced in 1950 by German automaker Volkswagen as its second car model – following and initially deriving from Volkswagen's first model, the Type 1 (Beetle), it was given the factory designation Type 2. As one of the forerunners of the modern cargo and passenger vans, the Type 2 gave rise to forward control competitors in the United States in the 1960s, including the Ford Econoline, the Dodge A100, and the Chevrolet Corvair 95 Corvan, the latter adopting the Type 2's rear-engine configuration. European competition included the 1960s FF layout Renault Estafette and the FR layout Ford Transit. The FF layout Citroën H Van though, pre-dated the VW by three years. As of January 2010, updated versions of the Type 2 remain in production in international markets— as a passenger van, as a cargo van, and as a pickup truck.Like the Beetle, the van has received numerous nicknames worldwide, including the "microbus", "minibus", and, due to its popularity during the counterculture movement of

The room for luggage in smaller cars such as the Beetle is not too large. To resolve this issue, Westfalia produced after the war a special trailer for the KdF-Wagen, it was the model ' Wolfsburg '. Unfortunately there not many left of this type. This beautiful aerodynamic shaped trailer had a wooden frame and a large lid, sometimes covered with artificial leather. The weight was 150 kg, and you could put 250 kg luggage in it. The model was produced until about half way the 50 's. This beautiful Westfalia Wolfsburg is from 1956. With the trailer the original German "Anhängerbrief" is included. The Volkswagen Beetle 1200 from 1963 is imported from Sweden in 2015. The APK (Dutch MoT) expires on 20 January 2019. The Volkswagen Type 2 was the third generation of the Volkswagen Transporter and was marketed under various nameplates worldwide. Larger and heavier than its predecessor, the T2, with a more squared and less rounded styling, was manufactured in Germany from 1979 until 1990. Examples built between 1979 and 1985 featured round headlights and chrome-plated steel bumpers with plastic end-caps. Air-cooled models (1979 to mid-1983) lack the lower grill above the radiator of the water-cooled models, except on models with factory air conditioning. 1986 model year vehicles received revisions including a tachometer, more fabric choices, redesigned air conditioner, larger water-cooled engine with a more advanced engine management system and redesigned transmissions including an optional Syncro four-wheel drive. Exterior changes include rectangular headlights (on selected models) and a variety of paint options. This righthand drive camper is fitted with a 2100cc fuel injected engine and, as such, is a delight to drive. The vendor is suffering from poor health and has not used her much of late although he has always kept her maintained and in good order. The front seats are from a Saab, trimmed

The Volkswagen Type 2 was to make its debut in 1950 being initially based on the early Beetle model. Simple and rugged, the vehicle was to prove its worth in terms of reliability and longevity and, before long, numerous permutations were available. During the 1960s, the Type 2 Combi was to become synonymous with the hippy movement, particularly in the U.S. where examples were frequently painted in psychedelic colour schemes and kitted out to provide living accommodation. They were a frequent sight at rock festivals and concerts throughout, in recent times, celebrity ownership has raised the profile of these characterful vehicles and the split-screen models in all their different guises are especially loved, good examples being keenly sought. Imported into the UK in 2009, this much loved Volkswagen has been enjoyed and used regularly by the vendor. Mechanically, this is a very well sorted example and cosmetically she has been continually worked on and as such presents in good order. The red and white interior is both striking and practical for those long days at the beach. This lefthand drive 'tin-top splittie' sits proudly on Porsche Fuchs alloy wheels offering a comfortable and sm

£29950 In 1989 Volkswagen UK decided to be involved in British Rally Sport, and certainly two cars are known to have been imported based on the already homologated Golf Rallye built at the VW plant in Belgium. One car, supported by VW UK was supplied to Gilders of Sheffield and prepared by Power Engineering of Uxbridge, registered G888 NWB, Vin WVWZZZ1GZLB010567, which was to be driven by the late Mark Lovell in the 1990 season. The second car registered G829 KVV, Vin WVWZZZ1GZLB010565, only two numbers apart, was run by the Shell Gemini team, in whose colours it appeared in the first Rally of the series being the Vauxhall Sport Rally in North Wales. Prepared for Shell by SBG, the Golf Rallye, was to be driven by former-Volkswagen Junior Team Golf GTI driver Steve Davies who confirmed ‘It was supplied by Shell Oils in Gemini livery and I was the driver for the 1990 National Championship. SBG built the car brand-new, specifically for me, for that year, and we did one rally in it, the 1990 Vauxhall Sport Rally in North Wales. The first round of the MSA National Championship at the time, it was a one-day event, starting from Llandudno.’ The car entry number 11 is shown on a YouTube vi

Here is a very beautiful restored Karmann Ghia Coupe from a private collection, from Bj.02 / 1964 offered. The Karmann is simply a dream! It reflects the clear lines and shapes, the VW success story again! His VW color tone in Sto Silver (L227) is absolutely worth seeing. It is only surped by its blue-beige artificial leather interior. The Karmann Ghia, very elegant and elegant, has a special flair. Beads, gaps and chrome are simply said top. The Karmann runs and drives simply super. Karmann also has another highlight. The Motornummer agrees with the letter and one has the said "Matching Numbers". The car also has a little history. He was bought in 1964 and only once did the Karmann change hands. Only after a year the Karmann was repurchased by the first owner and continued on he was always in family-owns. For the last time it was opeed up to 1984 and therefore the run of 76356km wool- original. Of course the Karmann Ghia has normal minimal patina in spite of the restoion, but the 50 year old story of the car makes the car look very authentic.
This RHD VW Bay Window was built in Hanover, Germany in 1975 ahead of delivery to Great Britain on the 27th May 1975. We have confirmation from Stiftung AutoMuseum Volkswagen that this vehicle was built for the right hand drive market and it is confirmed the vehicle still retains its original engine meaning this is a matching numbers example. The VW was subject of some major restoration work back in 2008 and since then has been in regular use, covering over 40,000 miles. Clearly this is a Camper that can be driven with absolute confidence and is ideal for long distance trips, holidays and general classic motoring. Restoration work in 2008 included major bodywork and we have thousands of pounds worth of receipts documenting this. The body was totally stripped down and treated to quarter panels, rear cross member, inner and outer wheel arches, outriggers, jacking points, rear floor, sills, rear bulkhead, inner bulkhead, 'B' posts, seating panel, front floor and complete outer centre floor panel. The bodyshell was then painted and treated to various new rubbers and seals. The VW was then re-fitted with new bumpers, headlights, indicators, hub caps and mirrors. The VW was subject of a
This RHD walk-through Devon conversion VW Camper covered in the region of 8000 miles in 2014 and since we sold the VW to one of our regular customers in South Wales the vehicle has covered further, reliable, faultless miles. GCP 977S has had over £16000 of expenditure since 2008 with over £12000 of this spent since 2010. As a result this VW is a strong, robust example that has proven reliability and has been used for long distance touring over the past few years. The VW has been taken to various parts of the UK and Ireland and is ideal for weekend and holiday use. The VW has taken part in the Eireball Run (Charity Type 2 event touring Ireland) three times and has been to Classic LeMans without missing a beat. In 2010 a rolling restoration began, firstly with some interior work, new heater pipes and a full brake re-commissioning to include new front discs and pads, rear drums and new brake shoes. In 2011 a 1600 single port engine was fitted, some wiring work carried out and the starter motor rebuilt. In 2012 the VW had new ball joints, axle seals, wheel bearings and the pop top roof replaced with another Devon original unit. The rear seat cushions were replaced with more supportive
