This very late Triumph Spitfire was ordered on 26th June 1981. The car was supplied by Mann Egerton Ltd in Great Yarmouth and left the factory in White. The car was delivered to its first owner on 1st August 1981 and we have the original retail vehicle order form, handbook, sales brochure and tool kit with the car. The Spitfire was ordered with disc wheels, inertia reel seat belts, centre armrest, laminated windscreen, exterior mirror, tonneau cover and headrests. The car was Ziebart rust proofed and then spent seventeen years with its first owner.
The first owner of the Spitfire used the car on a regular basis from new and by 2004 it was in need of some restoration work. The engine was fully stripped down and re-bored. The crankshaft was required re-grinding and the engine was treated to a new camshaft and followers, timing chain, pistons, main and big end bearings, core plugs, oil seals and gaskets. The cylinder head was converted to run on unleaded with new hardened valve seats, new valves and guides. A new starter motor, new clutch and ignition items were also fitted.
