A most unusual US spec car that was imported many years ago and rebuilt using a UK donor car. It has a very sound zinc sprayed chassis which is rather longer than the standard UK one to accommodate the large and most effective over-riders. A reconditioned engine was fitted at the time of restoration, this does not have the US emission controls which emasculated US models; at the same time it was converted to right hand drive and fitted with many body panels, new chrome and sill covers. It is effectively a 1500 although registration date implies a Mk IV. It has an anti-roll cage, a stainless steel Supersport exhaust with extra silencer to make it a little quieter, and servo brakes. The hood and tyres are new, it comes with a tonneau cover and hard top and it is fitted with a fuel reserve tap. The work was carried out by classic car restoration specialists, Kingsdown Classics. It drives and handles better than any Spitfire we have had before, it is unique and not to be missed.
