1955-1965 SUNBEAM Rapier I-V specifications

In design and engineering terms, the Rapier was a two-door version of the Hillman Minx. But the stylish Sunbeam was definitely the glamorous cousin to the family Hillman. During its production run, the Rapier went through four facelifts, starting out with 1494cc and ending up as a rapid 1592cc sporting saloon that continues to prove itself in competition. Like all Rootes Group cars of its era, build quality was good, and the construction tough – and that’s why so many survive today, and why the Rapier is such a popular classic choice.
