By 1906 the company was making cars and the name changed to The Rover Company Limited. The company struggled in the depression of the thirties but the re-establishment of the company started when Spencer Wilks and later his brother Maurice built up a reputation for quality cars with superb engineering up to the outbreak of the second world war. After the war all companies were struggling to update their model range but Rover, like many other car makers, re-launched their pre-war range of 10, 12, 14, 16 and 20 horsepower cars. These were developed into the 60 and 75 in 1948 and incorporated the engine destined later for the P4 featuring overhead inlet and side exhaust valves, otherwise the cars looked very similar to the pre-war models although there were a number
- Just undergone an extensive bodywork restoration, windows out re-paint and mechanical overhaul - 69,400 miles from new and offered with a collection of invoices and old MOT certificates - Described as ''excellent" with regards to the bodywork, paintwork, engine and gearbox With the after effects of the 1956-1957 Suez Crisis being felt worldwide, Leonard Lord commissioned Alec Issigonis to work on a radical small car project. His response was the now legendary Mini. A VERY LOW MILEAGE EXAMPLE Brand Rover Type SD 1 Vitesse Color Blue Interior Beige Year first registration 1984 Price € 19.500,- 1984 ROVER SD1 VITESSE Very low mileage example (only 3.150 kilometers a year) Desirable Vitesse version European spec. example (originally delivered in Belgium) Known in the 80ties as gentlemen’s dragster Recently a serious amount of money invested to wake up the car after being in a collection for some years Back in 1971 the Rover P6 was beginning to feel long in the tooth and badly needed replacement. Technically it still was a very advanced car but the age showed up in the styling and it was quite costly to produce this marvel. As Rover and Triumph both were in the Leyland group a combined engineering team was set up to create the follow up for the Rover P6 and the Triumph 2000/2500 cars. The codename for this combined Rover/Triumph effort was SD1 (short for Specialist Division nr. 1) The team under supervision of Spen King (Well known for the brilliantly designed P6 suspension system) started with a clean sheet to design the new car. This Rover would be different from the previous ones Rover had established itself with a good name for high quality we

We know this lovely, largely original low mileage Rover P4 100 very well having sold it in 2005, again in December 2014 to one of our regular customers in Essex and more recently to a long term local customer who has bought over ten classic cars from us over many years. MKS 265 spent nine years in regular summer use from 2005 and has attended shows and rallies across Yorkshire. The Rover covered 4000 faultless miles and on return to us after nine years sold immediately to a regular customer in Essex. After almost one year of enjoying the Rover, it came back to us in part exchange and has since been used locally covering around 500 faultless miles. MKS 265 has been slowly improved since 2005 and has been treated to various re-chroming work. Mechanically the Rover has been superbly maintained and has proved completely reliable. The car has had various ignition items replaced, a new water pump and a new speedo cable. During the 1990's the Rover was with one owner in West Yorkshire and receipts are with the car for new hoses, thermostat housing, de-coke head gasket set, brake shoes, wheel cylinders, calipers and pistons, brake discs, brake pads and new brake pipes. Between 1961 and 199

It was this image that perhaps helped the Mini become such an asset for BMW, which later bought the remnants of BMC as the Rover Group. It was even more popular in Japan, which took the lion's share of the circa 40,000 Minis produced annually in the early 1990s. It was seen there as a retro-cool icon, and inspired many imitators.

A cossetted and very rare Rover Metro GTi 16v with a huge history file. EQUIPMENT Laminated windscreen, green tint glass, tilting green glass sunroof, body colour front spoiler, body colour sill extensions, black rear spoiler with body colour lip, body colour door mirrors, styled halogen headlamps, headlamp road-levelling, rear wash/wipe, central door locking, digital clock, rubber fascia mat, soft feel sports steering wheel, 60/40 split folding rear seat, security coded Philips radio cassette (model R570), roof mounted aerial. Dealer accessories; Rover tailored floor mats. EXTERIOR This very rare sporting GTi 16v variant has been under the ownership of an exceptionally dedicated and near obsessive individual who has preserved the car since it was less than two years old! The striking factory original paintwork in Flame Red, (Code COF), displays a deep mirror shine throughout with an incredible uniform glossy finish. Two tiny dings, one on the scuttle panel and one on the offside rear panel are just visible but inoffensive. The underside and factory fitted panels are incredibly well preserved, and even the rear arches show visible original weld dots, almost unheard of for a Metro. The sporting trim sections are perfect and the dealer plates, tax disc holder and rear screen sticker remain fitted. Constantly garaged with soft sheets protecting it, this example is in almost unconceivably good condition. INTERIOR The interior of this outstanding unmolested example is in pristine original condition. The sports seats with Lightning Fabric facings, (Code LOY), are virtually wear free and spotlessly clean. Matching door cards are perfect and the colour scheme carpeting has been protected by genuine Rover over mats from new. The perfect fascia, dashboard and all switchgear is fully functional and the headlining is as new. The optional security coded radio cassette remains fitted and fully functional, and all glass is security etched with the registration number. The sporty feel is completed with bright red seat belts, a less than subtle hint towards the fun in store once you turn the key! ENGINE & TRANSMISSION This top of the range Metro GTi 16v has the four cylinder 16 valve twin cam engine developing a spritely 95bhp, huge fun in such a lightweight car. The engine note through the standard specification exhaust matches the cars sporty looks and the driving experience is guaranteed to raise a reluctant smile! A pristine engine bay displays all factory stickers, plates and panel stampings. The five speed close ratio manual gearbox offers light and precise changes throughout the range and lively city driving manner. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES The original 13” alloy wheels are in amazing order having never been refurbished and are shod in brand new branded 185/55 R13 tyres. Incredibly, the factory fitted Dunlop SP D8 tyres have been retained for originality. The spare fifth alloy wheel is also fitted with the original Dunlop tyre, and both the wheel and tyre have never seen the road. To delight the collector even more, alongside the spare wheel is the toolkit, wheel brace and centre cap lever sat in the polystyrene holder, and the original jack is retained by the correct small white bungee strap. The dual circuit servo assisted brakes with front discs bring the car up to a steady, straight and assured halt. HISTORY FILE This astounding example was registered new on 1st June 1990 by Rover Main Dealer, Mann Egerton & Co of Bishop’s Stortford, and has covered a mere 63,591 miles with just two keepers from new. The previous keeper purchased the car from Rover Main Dealer, Warners of Windlesham, when the car was less than two years old and had covered just 8,823 miles. A used vehicle sales invoice in the history file confirms a purchase price of £7,360. The devotion by the second and long term owner is truly remarkable with the care and attention lavished upon her pride and joy second to none. She even had the foresight to periodically buy spare carpet mats, trim pieces and parts while they could still be found, just in case they were ever needed! The colossal history file is simply incredible with all handbooks, radio guides, service book other point of sale literature neatly kept inside the plastic A5 wallet. Furthermore, a huge folder of receipts and invoices span from new to present, and there are two documented cambelt changes with the most recent being done less than 4,000 miles ago. A detailed maintenance log, original Rover range sales brochure and two sets keys complete the history file. This Metro is an absolute credit to the former keeper and represents an unrepeatable opportunity to acquire arguably the best example of this very rare surviving model. MOT March 2018, HPI Clear. 1939 Rover 14h.p. Four Light Sports Saloon Sporty pre-war Rover Lovely original seats, new headlining Running very well, good brakes Very good chrome, re-wired Ownership known since 1955, when acquired by Mr Rodgers of London, who subsequently moved to Romsey in Hampshire and ran it till 1975, when it appears to have been laid up to 1984, then passed to a Mr Anderson. Subsequently purchased for the Flying Scotsman Rally, but not actually used, then a period of film work. Returned to private ownership and sold by Pioneer Automobiles in 2014, in need of some tidying. Recent work includes re-wiring, re-chroming, new headlining and carpet mats. The car is said to run and drive extremely well and the 0-60 mph time was quoted at a dizzy 41.3secs, with top speed of 72mph. The six cylinder engine of 1901cc drives through a 4 speed manual gearbox with freewheel. It appears to be very sound, black paintwork is recent and very good, red is older and possibly original.
