Technically it still was a very advanced car but the age showed up in the styling and it was quite costly to produce this marvel. As Rover and Triumph both were in the Leyland group a combined engineering team was set up to create the follow up for the Rover P6 and the Triumph 2000/2500 cars. The codename for this combined Rover/Triumph effort was SD1 (short for Specialist Division nr. 1) The team under supervision of Spen King (Well known for the brilliantly designed P6 suspension system) started with a clean sheet to design the new car. This Rover would be different from the previous ones Rover had established itself with a good name for high quality we

By 1906 the company was making cars and the name changed to The Rover Company Limited. The company struggled in the depression of the thirties but the re-establishment of the company started when Spencer Wilks and later his brother Maurice built up a reputation for quality cars with superb engineering up to the outbreak of the second world war. After the war all companies were struggling to update their model range but Rover, like many other car makers, re-launched their pre-war range of 10, 12, 14, 16 and 20 horsepower cars. These were developed into the 60 and 75 in 1948 and incorporated the engine destined later for the P4 featuring overhead inlet and side exhaust valves, otherwise the cars looked very similar to the pre-war models although there were a number

AMAZING RESTORED EXAMPLE Brand Rover Type 3500 P6 Color Blue Interior Black Year of build 1972 Price € 28.500,- 1977 ROVER P6 3500 V8 Extremely nice and amazing restored example Original delivered in Holland Superb (original) color combination Amazing driving example The 3500 was introduced in April 1968, and continued to be offered until 1977. The V8 engine weighed the same as the four-cylinder unit of the Rover 2000 giving the more powerful cars a maximum speed of 114 mph with a 0-60 time of 10.5-seconds. The P6 3500 V8s are remarkably impressive cars well suited to modern road conditions. Younger and increasingly affluent professional workers and executives were seeking out cars that were superior to the normal 1.5-litre models in style, design and luxury but which offered more modern driving dynamics than the big three-litre class and lower purchase and running costs than sports saloons such as the Jaguar Mark II. Automotive technology had improved significantly in the mid-to-late 1950s, typified by the introduction of cars such as the Citroen DS and Lancia Flavia in Europe and the Chevrolet Corvair in America. The replacement for the traditionally-designed P4 would therefore b

GWD 485 was first registered on the 26th July 1948. Our Rover was built in right hand drive format to export specification but like many 1947/1948 Rover export models it ended up being sold on the home market. The registration prefix GWD is a Warwickshire registration issued in 1948 but we don't have any history of the cars early life. The earliest we can trace the car is 1977 when it was owned by a Rover Club member in Elderslie in Renfrew. He had owned the Rover since 1971 and his son inherited the car in 1989 in need of restoration work. Having being in the same family for 19 years the Rover was sold still in need of restoration to a gentleman in Glasgow. The Rover was MOT tested in 1992 so had clearly undergone some restoration/re-commissioning work and the car changed hands again in 1993. MOT's from 1993 show the car was in annual use right throughout the 1990's and 2000's and these certificates show the Rover has covered in the region of 10,000 miles in this time. This history details some major refurbishment in from 2009 - 2011 to include to include a full re-trim in leather, re-furnished woodwork, work to the front and rear suspension, propshaft, rear axle, front hubs, stee

Rover P3 models only had a very short production run lasting around eighteen months. The P3 retains all of the old traditional styling but coupled with new independent coil spring suspension, new hydro-mechanical brakes, two new inlet over exhaust engines in four and six cylinder form which allowed larger valves to fitted, making them more efficient makes the P3 a delightful model to have. This beautiful example was sold by us in 2012 to a regular customer in Suffolk who has parted company with the car after five years due to an imminent re-location to France. During his ownership the Rover has been used on a regular basis and comes back to us on the button, driving and performing superbly. MPF 325 has covered less than 10,000 miles since an extensive engine rebuild in 1992. The engine was stripped down and re-shelled, re-bored and new pistons fitted. The starter motor and dynamo were also rebuilt and a new clutch fitted. More recently between 2008 and 2012 the Rover had further expenditure to include a professional re-paint, re-trimmed upholstery and various re-chroming work. The Rover also had mechanical work to include new engine mountings, re-conditioned radiator, new hoses, th

There is a tear in the inside roof lining (see picture). The bonnet , front wings and grill were replaced about 5 years ago and I have home sprayed the top front wings  and wiper panel which could be very much  improved with a professional re-spray. There is a slight dent in the rear bumper. This car can be made to look like new with minimal cost (Silver all weather cover included :- see pictures)     It will need a new vinyl roof at some time as it may leak when parked in heavy rain without its cover (The outer roof cover has a split on either side, see pics) New vinyl roofs are available on Ebay for a very good price.  It also puffs a little white smoke like most Clic Mini's when starting, but has never caused any problems. Variant name:CITY E ,Variant: CITY E Automatic - One lady owner from new Launched to a dumb-founded motoring press in 1959, the Alec Issigonis-designed Mini introduced a whole new concept in car design. Perfectly timed to capture the revolutionary mood of the Swinging Sixties, it crashed through the traditional class barriers that had surrounded British cars up to that point and everybody wanted to be seen in a Mini. No wonder the fundamental shape remained unaltered for an incredible 40 years. Its space-saving front-wheel-drive layout and ingenious transverse engine allowed 80% of the area of the car's floorpan to be used for passengers and luggage and influenced a generation of car makers. BMC’s engineers even managed to cram a nifty four-speed automatic into the space normally taken up by the manual gear set which made the little Mini even easier to drive. Throw in a cute little monocoque body and go-kart like handling that made 30mph feel like 60mph and Issigonis was on to a winner. It was largely assumed that the Mini would cease production after the introduction of the Mini-Metro, however it soldiered on until 2000 supported by the Cooper models and a range of special editions which kept interest alive in the product, significantly outliving its supposed replacement by some years. BL’s most basic model, the 40bhp City E managed to retain much of the charm of the original, including the large centrally mounted speedometer which is such an interior design feature of the latest BMW Mini produced today. This remarkable City E Automatic has had just one lady owner from new and has only covered 11,700 miles in its 27 years to date. Supplied new by Eveleigh’s Garage of Exeter in October 1990, it has been religiously maintained by them ever since, the history file containing no fewer than 18 service sheets detailing regular upkeep over the years. Always kept garaged, it remains in outstanding and original condition throughout with gleaming red paintwork and a virtually unmarked grey cloth interior. It even retains the factory paper tags on the wiring inside the boot lid. It rides on a matching set of Marshall tyres with about 5mm of tread all round. The car comes with the aforementioned service history, the original owner's handbook, spare wheel, tool kit and jack, period AA 'emergency windscreen' and two sets of keys on the original leather Rover key fob. Said to drive as well as it looks, it has an MOT until June 2018 with no advisories recorded. You would be hard pressed to find a smarter, lower mileage example anywhere.

A heater has also been fitted to improve passenger comfort. Finished in Black with Blue leather upholstery, the vendor describes the bodywork, paintwork, engine, gearbox and interior as all being in "very good" order as one would expect from such a cherished vehicle.
