With a 510-bhp 5.9-liter V-12 engine, a new Touchtronic 2 6-speed automatic gearbox and a chassis constructed entirely of aluminum and carbon-fiber, all wrapped in trademark sultry skin, it's no wonder that the British company's latest creation the DBS is the preferred mode of transportation for 007 in the latest installments of the James Bond film series. The most important feature of this special edition car is obviously the bespoke Carbon Black metallic paint - especially formulated with a subtle metallic twist to create a deep, rich patina, and which requires 50 man-hours of hand-painting to apply, according to Aston Martin. The interior is finished in Obsidian Black leather seats with hand made silver stitching. Theres a piano black fascia trim that is also used for the centre stack and centre console along with anodised black tread plates and unique sill plaques build on the carbon theme. Lightweight seats formed from Carbon Fibre and Kevlar saving 17 kg over the standard seats come together with the Bang & Olufsen Beosound audio system as standard. Other changes include a bright finished front grille and front parking sensors. This immaculate example benefits from a f
The Porsche badge has always been applied to cars which prioritise driver involvement. So when the company released the big Cayenne 4x4 in 2002, some doubted whether that reputation would still apply. To Porsche's credit, it did, and the result was a car with the practicality of a large 4x4 and something like the driver appeal of a sports car. By some distance, the Cayenne is the most exciting big 4x4 to drive. On the road, the Cayennes diesel engine lets you know its there. This is a Porsche, after all, so you get a nice throaty roar from the engine when you hit the throttle. The 8-speed Tiptronic gearbox gives admirably smooth shifts, as you might expect. It's a good, comfortable, sporty 4x4, that is as competent off-road as it is on - the perfect car for stylish adventurers everywhere. This one owner Jet Black example comes with a black leather interior and decent list of extras, to include Glass Panoramic roof, PCM Satellite Navigation with Bluetooth phone connectivity, 21 Turbo II alloy wheels, automatic (power) tailgate, electrically adjustable seats, hill hold assist, front and rear parking sensors with visual guidance - see more details below. No surprise then that Maserati, one of the world's most desirable motoring marques, oozes sophisticated chic. The automaker's trident emblem - that three-pronged spear clasped by Neptune, the Roman God of the Sea - more than hints at the greatness of the Modena-based brand. However you look at it, the Maserati GranCabrio expresses dynamic tension and a sporty edge: the large oval grille, the bodywork that seems to be drawn tight over the frame like a figure hugging dress, right down to the rear flanks. This example comes in Bianco Eldorado with Blu Scuro leather/contrasting stitching interior and matching blue soft top. Long list of extras which include: 20" Astro Anthracite alloy wheels, brake calipers painted blue, Front seat comfort pack (heated and memory), Trident Logo stitched on headrests, Shift paddles for 'Active Shifting', High Gloss Piano Black interior trim, BOSE sound system, Multimedia system including navigation system and 30gb hard drive, Bluetooth phone connectivity - see more details below. The Maserati Spyder GT's heritage comes through loud and clear, especially when its 7550-rpm redline is probed. Its engine is fantastic. It's a beautiful (visually and aurally) Ferrari-built 4.2-liter 4-cam V-8 that spins out 390 bhp at 7000 rpm and 333 lb.-ft. of torque at 4500 rpm, and you feel every pony and lb.-ft. of twist. It's a raspy engine that manages to be both free-revving and deeply muscular at the same time, with a sound and thrust level that make your eyes roll back in your head from some combination of g-forces and ecstasy. The 4200 has a rear-mounted transaxle rather than a transmission directly behind the engine, for better weight distribution as well as traction. Handling is balanced and communicative, but the car likes smooth roads better than rough ones, you drive with your fingertips - and the gas pedal - and in this regard it feels like a classic Italian race car of the '50s or '60s. The other GT cars may be easier to drive, but you get the feeling that Fangio or Moss would go fastest in the Maserati. This genuine example comes in a classic colour combination of Grigio Touring paint and Bordeaux leather hide. Long list of upgrades include Maserati's 'Skyhook'
It takes something special for a car to become a motoring icon. And what I have here certainly is iconic; the Land Rover Defender. This low mileage, tastefully customized Defender comes in Solid White with black half leather seats. The F430 is sensational. It isnt as fast in a straight line as some of its competitors, but the blend of drivability, excitement, immediacy, and purity is unmatched. It sings to you and embodies everything we love about Italian cars. The car has a 4.3 litre naturally aspirated V8, still in use in modified and direct-injected form in the current 458 Italia. It's the totality, the greatness of the entire package that mesmerizes here. The Pininfarina-styled aluminum bodywork looks stunning from every angle, the aluminum space-frame chassis forms a rigid base for the suspension to operate with utmost precision, and the 4.3-litre 490hp V-8 revs to a rarefied 8500 rpm. The angry cry of stressed metal and most high-strung exhaust note this side of Formula 1 leave an indelible impression. Weight is 3,200 pounds, but big tyres and some very advanced computer software (including the stuff it took to run a lightning-fast-for-its-day 60ms paddle-shift transmission) meant 0-60 took a mere 3.8 seconds. Every review of the car glowed with praise. Handling was supposedly fantastic. This was the first car that started the now-cliche trope that the electronics actually helped the driving experience
Whatever else the California may be, it's first and foremost a Ferrari, so the Formula One hand-me-downs in the form of the F1-Trac variable traction and stability control and carbon ceramic brakes are still there. It all adds up to a combination of the effortless and the awe-inspiring, with a supple ride thrown in for good measure. The California's dual personality is obvious in the refinement on offer when you're taking it easy. Fully-automated gearshifts are smooth, the ride is supple and the engine inaudible when cruising, yet you get the full surround-sound bellow when you let rip. The R8 has everything you would expect from a supercar staggering performance and brilliant handling, for a start plus some things you might not, like refinement and everyday usability. Thanks to bags of traction and immense cornering grip, the R8 can be driven safely as well as quickly. The chassis is wonderfully taut, resulting in minimal body roll, yet the ride is fluid and extremely comfortable. The new 5.2 V10 is so smooth and refined, with an effortless surge of elastic acceleration from way down low. Wind it towards the 8000rpm redline, however, and the soundtrack takes on a highly addictive hard-edged wail. All the versions of the Audi R8 up until now have become accepted as cherished members of the global fleet of sports cars, and that's wonderful. But last the R8 5.2 FSI V10 finally took the R8 brand officially into supercar territory. This particular version of the R8 is the car the engineers at Quattro GmbH in Neckarsulm (Audi's high-performance division) always wanted to build in the first place. There is no doubt that Audi had an eye on the convertible's appearance and competence when the coupé was penned but even so, in isolation the drop top R8's looks are spectacular and it manages to pull this off with the roof up or down. With the hood in place the R8 enjoys a more conventional profile. The cabin shares much with the coupé and is as good as you would expect Audi to deliver in what is the most expensive car it has sold to date. It's spacious enough to be comfortable on a long haul but is snug and the excellent hood is well insulated against the elements and noise. The Spyder weighs 212 pounds more than the R8 coupe, but it's amazing what a high-revving 518-horsepower V10 can do in the corners with a chassis that hardly leans a bit. This example comes in a very classy colour
The R8 is one of the most recognisable and desirable cars on the roads. Exhilarating to drive and dramatically styled it's a very special car that will turn heads wherever you go. Its hard to improve on the thrills offered by the Audi R8 coupe. Its poise, build quality and looks make it one of the finest supercars currently available. But Audi has now taken the roof off its supercar to create the Audi R8 Spyder providing an even more visceral experience. Its incredibly composed, refined, comfortable and fairly quiet inside the cabin. The R8 Spyder changes most of that, offering a thrill that leaves driver, passenger and passers-by tingling. It is a wonderfully exciting car in every respect. Big power, big car, big performance. The M5 remains the best high-performance saloon on the planet. But this is a car for those who know. Beneath its subtly-pumped bodywork lies a truly stupendous mechanical package. It transforms the F10 5 Series from a deceptively-styled, mild-mannered executive saloon into a road-raging performance car. It will smoke up its rear tyres with just a prod of the accelerator, and devour mountain roads with consummate ease - it changes direction so effortlessly that it will leave all but the very best for dead, its straight line speed is simply colossal and it will do all this while carrying four adults in exceptional comfort. The Bentley Continental GTC Speed claims membership to the 200 mph club and although that extra 5 mph would make no difference at all in real-world driving, it is key to the success of this car. It comes down to the fact that buying a bentley is not a logical purchase. It will be bought by those who demand the best. They desire the performance of a supercar and the yet the ultimate in comfort and luxury. The Bentley driver will be pleased to know that the Speed model lacks none of the GTCs refinement. On the surface it may seem like a compromise a sports model that glides along more like a limousine, but to Bentley drivers it is perfect. The Bentley Continentals combine the best attributes of European engineering and performance, global contemporary style, and British charm, craftsmanship and sublime road manners in the world's fastest saloon and elegant two-door coupe and convertible models. And they do so at a price point nicely slotted between very expensive and more mundane. To paraphrase one who owns all of them, the Continental is here because there are places you simply do not arrive in a Mercedes, BMW, or Audi. This face lift example comes in the unique colour combination of Porcelain White pearlescent paint and Linen/Burnt Oak leather hide. What makes a sensational interior even better, is the Mulliner driving pack (adding £6000 to the base price of Continental GT) include 20-inch, seven spoke alloys and diamond quilted seats and door trims, drilled alloy pedals and a sporting chrome gearshift. As for the facelifted Continental GT, subtle changes to the fascia include the revised front grille, the all-new lower bumper design which features a wider central air intake and the chromed bezels around the headlamps. Released to the world in 1963, Ferdinand Porsches 911 has since become the very backbone of the company a legacy that any other car manufacturer would envy. Black bodywork, throwback alloys, chrome embellishments and a hard-wearing houndstooth interior, on their own do not make the ingredients of a super sportscar. However this particular Porsche 911 is all about tradition, and each one of those elements plays a special role in the make-up of this 50th Anniversary edition.Added together that list is a triumph of taste, detailing and as usual for the Stuttgart firm precision engineering. The very black paint bears the Monochrome Black name, those throwback alloys are a re-imagination of the classic Fuchs design, though suitably enlarged from the original 15-inch diameter to an arch-filling 20-inch rim instead. Combined with the 44mm wider over the rear haunches bodywork usually reserved for the four-wheel drive cars, they give this limited edition 911 an impossibly purposeful stance. Other neat touches include the high gloss window frames, chromed engine grilles and SportDesign wing mirrors. You could argue the details in the interior are even more successful; the instrum
The 2014 Porsche 991 Turbo approach perfection with an incredible package that combines luxury with performance like never before. It holds a lot more supercar than it looks initially give away. It has that unique ability to change from a comfortable and sophisticated daily driver to a supercar killer on track at the touch of a button. Technical highlights of the new 911 Turbo include a new 3.8-litre flat-six petrol engine with two turbochargers that's more powerful (514BHP), yet more fuel-efficient, than its predecessor's and further developed 7-Speed PDK Doppelkupplung which features new functions optimised for performance. Rear axle steering is standard on all 911 Turbo models. Instead of conventional control arms, there are two electromechanical actuators on each side of the car that can vary the steering angle of the wheels by up to 2.8 degrees. At speeds up to 31mph the rear wheels steer in the opposite direction to improve responsiveness and aid parking. Above 50mph the rear wheels turn parallel to the front wheels to improve high-speed stability. As with its predecessors, the 911 Turbo has wider rear bodywork than lesser 911 models in this case its overall width is 28mm w
Think of it as a racecar in a sport coat and tie. Nothing less than a street-legal race car, the 997 based 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 is a road-going variant of the GT3 Cup car. The Cup Car, of course, is complete with such racing essentials as a gutted interior, roll cage, and liberal use of carbon fiber body panels. But, mechanically the cars are near clones. With the 911 GT3, you are as close to the Porsche race car experience as you can be without actually owning one. It also delivers the purest form of razor-edged Porsche performance available in the 997 model. Inside, the GT3 conforms to the mostly upscale look other 911s. The familiar cockpit boasts yellow-needled gauges, fine Alcantara/ leather appointments, the GT3 logo, plus PCM Nav system and Sport Chrono Package.
