BMW's tagline is very familiar: The Ultimate Driving Machine. For many years BMW lived by that credo, making sure every vehicle in the lineup offered a sporty character and a level of driver involvement that couldn't be matched by any competitor. BMW took several measures to save weight. The roof is now carbon fiber (only the coupe had it previously), the driveshaft is also carbon fiber, less sound insulation is used, and the suspension, hood, and front fenders are aluminum. Lighter weight and a stiffer structure translate to better handling and faster lap times. Under the bonnet, the new M3 swaps a high-revving 4.0-liter V8 for a new twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that forces 18 psi of air down the engine's gullet to create more power from less displacement. Horsepower rises modestly, from 414 to 425, but torque is up considerably, from 317 to 406 pound-feet. BMW says they should improve fuel ecenomy by about 25 percent from the outgoing V8 engine. The M-DCT gearbox provides lighting fast shifts without an interruption of power to the wheels. Integrated Launch Control helps get the M3 off the line without fuss. Once underway, Stability Clutch Control helps
Aston Martin's rooflines are some of the hottest numbers in car couture - they are low cut, tight fitting, and steaming with sex appeal. Its timeless aesthetic is helped by the simplicity of design and application. Clean, precise lines define the profile, while the proportions are as perfect as Michelangelo's David. No open Aston has ever been more taut and focused, visually or dynamically, than this one. The V8 range was designed with an open version in mind, and it shows. The V8 engine growls and fizzes, and while there are better engines in this sector, none can hold a candle to this one's note. If Beethoven was ever going to engineer a car, he would have made it sound something like this. The roadster's introduction heralds Aston's new paddle-shift transmission, called Sportshift. The Sportshift incorporates a Magneti Marelli hydraulic shifting system virtually identical to those used by Ferrari and Lamborghini. This one owner, always serviced only by the Aston Martin main dealers example comes in a classy colour combination of Titanium Silver and Caspian blue leather/carpet hide. List of the optional extras include satellite navigation system, Aston Martin 700W Premium Sound S
The Audi RS6 is the fastest car in its class with stunning looks. Despite the downsizing the RS6 is still what it always was, the best and fastest Audi A6 and one of the best all-round fast family cars one can buy. Now in its third generation, the Audi RS6 is back with less power but better performance as its predecessor. For the first time Audi's aim for the new RS6 was to make the RS6 lighter and more fuel efficient and still faster at the same time. The all-wheel drive systems offers tremendous grip, no matter what weather conditions you might encounter. Coming out of a tight bend the 700Nm of torque is there immediately to push you forward with force. Thanks to the AWD system and despite its high torque and rear-biased differential it is not a tail happy car. Instead it just cuts through the corners without too much drama. Acceleration is brutal beyond believe, 0-60mph in less than 4 seconds in a car that weighs over 2 tonnes. The single clutch 8-speed ZF gearbox offers the best performance you can possible expect from a single clutch gearbox in auto and sport mode. The RS6 interior is finished in the highest quality materials with several RS badges, floormats and RS seats, as
The Bentley Continental Flying Spur is a stupendously swift, eerily efficient automobile that astounds its occupants even as it chills their souls. In this league, all that matters is that the Flying Spur ambles around town like a newly-elected mayor, accelerates like a Porsche 911 Turbo and wafts with imperial ease. Step inside and your neurological pathways are short-circuited by the overwhelming odor of perfectly-tanned cow hide. In fact, the cabin's perfection is inescapable you will not find a single missed stitch or unfinished edge anywhere inside the Flying Spur's sensory deprivation chamber. The 'Speed' is to be the sharper handling, more aggressively tuned and more involving counterpart. It is fitted with stiffer suspension bushings, the ride height is lower by 10mm, there is thicker anti-roll bars front and rear, and fatter 20in Pirellis. The Speed's also fitted with a new Dynamic Mode for increased wheel slip at higher speeds. For the Speed, tweaks to the Spur's W12 engine have boosted power by 9% from 552to 600bhp and torque by 15% from 479lb ft to 553lb ft, which kicks in at a low 1750rpm. The result is a 2475kg four-seater saloon that rockets to 60mph 4.5sec, nails th
The F-Type is the hero car that reestablished Jaguar as something worth giving a damn about, after our eyes had all pretty much glazed over from years of weaksauce, dated sedans wrought under Fords ownership. The ultra-fast SVR versions wing, carbon fiber treatments and titanium exhaust significantly disrupt the cars sleek serenity for better or worse. But theres certainly no mistaking the most hardcore F-Type model for anything less. The SVR pushes that halo concept even further, taking the crown of the F-Type model range with all the farkle and attitude of a tuner car in the body of a supercar. Jaguar claims the SVRs 5.0-liter supercharged V8 turns out 575 HP and 516 lb-ft of torque. All that energy put down through the SVRs eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system can propel the 3,759-pound vehicle from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and on to a top speed of ...200MPH. This low mileage example comes in Ammonite Grey with Ebony/Cirrus stitched quilted Windsor leather seats and a long list of extras to include 770W Meridian surround sound system, EU navigation system, heated steering wheel, 20in Coriolis gloss black alloy wheels, Panoramic Glass Roof, powered tail
If the Range Rover and the Evoque consummated their relationship the offspring would look exactly like the Range Rover Sport. The Sport is contemporary and exactly what buyers in this market expect: discreet, but not too subtle. In its price range, the Range Rover Sport is the best all-rounder on sale today bar none. There are cars in its class that run it close, but none can match its stunning blend of performance, handling, practicality, and off-road competence. This 1 owner example comes in Santorini Black with two tone Ebony/Ivory Oxford perforated leather interior. The Alpina B3 could be one the best reasons not to go for a BMW M3. On the road the B3 feels monumentally quick, even down the shortest straights. And the auto gearbox works perfectly in conjunction with the engine, blipping downshifts smoothly and with just the right number of revs when you shift manually, and picking off gears with similar speed and dexterity on the way up. The B3 Biturbo may lack two cylinders and 54bhp compared with the M3 but it has much more torque (368lb ft versus 295lb ft) and is not restricted by a speed limiter. So the zero to 60mph takes 4.9sec, while the top speed is 180mph. And that is to say nothing of what is arguably the B3's biggest attribute; its amazingly calm and civilized ride. Key to this are its tyres, and they allow the B3 to glide over even quite rough roads with the sort of refinement you normally only associate with luxury saloons. This No.121 of 130 ever built B3 convertibles comes in Sapphire Black with Saddle Brown leather uphlostery a long list of extras to include Proffessional Satelite Navigation, Bluetooth phone connectivity, adjustable lumbar support, wind deflector Bi-Xenon headlights, front and rear parking sensors - see more de
The Mercedes SL is a sinuous, sensuous roadster with dramatic styling and a major-league price tag. Mercedes says the SL simultaneously pays homage to its legendary great grandfathers while offering a new interpretation of excitement. Now, almost 50 years in production, it is an automotive icon. Slide into the cockpit, belt up, press the button on the console and, 16 seconds later, its retractable power steel roof (on this example with optional glass panoramic wiindow) changes it from the open-air fun of a convertible to the quiet comfort of a luxury coupe. This model comes with a completely new electronically controlled, magnesium-housing 7G-Tronic 7-speed automatic transmission, the world's first, with closer ratios for quicker acceleration, instantaneous downshifting and higher fuel economy. This stunning example comes in Obsidian Black with a contrasting sand beige leather hide. Long list of extras includes Command (satellite navigation), Bluetooth phone connectivity, electrically adjustable heated seats with memory, Xenon headlights, 18 inch 5 twin spoke alloy wheels - see more details in 'Specification' section on the right. Some say that 911 996 has an odd shaped headlights, some find it a bit bland-looking. However, the wide-bodied 996 Carrera 4S addresses that criticism fair and square - it is one of the best-looking 911s and many others think so too. Built from 2001 to 2005, the 996 Carrera 4S follows on from other wide-bodied 911s including the Carrera Turbo-Look of 1984, and included the 993 Carrera 4S. The Carrera 4S is essentially an all-wheel drive Carrera in in a 911 Turbo bodyshell, albeit without the Turbo's air intakes in the rear arches ( the non-turbocharged engine didn't require them) or the part-fixed rear spoiler, relying instead on the standard Carrera's fully retractable item. The 65mm wider Turbo rear body gives the 996 a more sensual and aggressive look from the rear, and this is enhanced by the full-width rear reflector the Carrera 4S was the only 996 to feature this classic 911 trademark. But there is more to the 996 Carrera 4S then simply good looks. It comes fitted with the 996 Turbo brakes, suspension and 18-inch wheels. This makes the C4S ride and handle so much better; it changes the character of the car for the better, making it feel tighter and so much more refined. The P
Porsche?s 'Targa' moniker has been applied to open-air 911s since the late 1960s, and now with the latest version complementing the recently launched coupe and convertible models, it completes Porsche?s visually subtle but mechanically thorough overhaul of the 911 armada. The Porsche Targa will most likely appeal to the same 10 percent of 911 shoppers who like the idea of a bright and airy driving experience along with the measure of exclusivity a rare model imparts. But why, you ask, do just 10 percent of 911 buyers go for the Targa? The answer is that the special assembly process keeps the production numbers down and puts the price up. And it is fearsomely quick in 'S' guise thanks to 380bhp and impressive PDK gearbox. This wide body Basalt Black example comes with a long list of extras: Sport Chrono Package, PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management), BOSE sound system, PCM 3 touchscreen satellite navigation with Bluetooth phone connectivity, 19 inch Turbo alloy wheels, Xenon headlights to name a few. See more details below.
The Range Rover remains an accomplished, comfortable, plush long-distance cruiser with few obvious rivals ? and this is the car?s strongest variant yet. Inside, the cabin is pretty much as you were, with the exception of that gear selector. The slabs of wood on the deliberately chunky dashboard and a touchscreen Sat-Nav screen that can display different images to driver and front passenger remain, as do the excellent driving position and accurate steering. On the road, the new car builds on an already strong package. The V8 is smooth, quiet and laden with torque. This Autobiography example comes in Buckingham Blue with a Jet Black Semi Aniline leather interior - to include dashboard, door casings, central console and roof -lining. Long list of extras include: Supercharged Design Pack, rear View camera, front and rear parking sensors, Heated/Cooled front and rear seats, 10 Way power driver seat with memory, Harman/Kardon Sound system with DAB radio, Power tilt/slide sun roof, Keyless entry and start, 20'' 10 spoke alloy wheels, Novel Plated grille, Premium Leather heated steering wheel, Adaptive speed control, Premium Sound System, Adaptive Bi-Xenon headlights - the list goes on & o

The SL63 replaces the SL55 AMG, which was powered by a supercharged 5.4-liter V-8. Its replacement, the SL63 AMG is powered by AMG's 6.3-litre V8 engine that develops 525 hp and 630 Nm which makes it one of the most powerful naturally aspirated V-8's in its class. The most important thing about the new SL63 AMG is that it comes exclusively with the all-new, innovative AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission. The newly developed power transfer concept features a compact, wet start-up clutch that replaces the conventional torque converter. The resulting direct connection to the powertrain, together with the double-declutching and Race Start functions, guarantees an extremely emotional, supremely dynamic driving experience. AMG Performance Package (£8000+ option fitted on this example) that features more aggressive tuning of the active-body-control (ABC) suspension system; a torque-sensing limited-slip differential; and bigger front brake rotors, up in diameter from an already monstrous 14.2 inches to 15.4. For drivers looking to personalize their cars further, AMG is offering a Performance Studio package that includes carbon-fiber exterior details, different wheels and a new s
The emphasis with the Macan, inside as well as out, is all about delivering as sporting a driving experience as possible, even when there is a turbodiesel engine pumping away beneath its new bonnet. The precision and accuracy of its steering, the effortless power of its brakes, the apparent high quality of its ride and the feeling of sitting inside a compact but expensive automobile being just four such examples. But it is the smoothness and potency of the power delivery that will most likely leave the biggest impression, long after you have climbed out and walked way. That and the creamy interaction with the engine of the quite brilliant PDK gearbox. Combined, these attributes elevate the Macan S Diesel to a completely different level dynamically compared with any car in this class. This solid white example comes with Black-Garnet Red Two-tone Leather Interior and a long list of upgrdes to include 20 inch RS Spyder Design alloy wheels, glass panoramic sunroof, adaptive sport seats with comfort memory pack, Piano Black trim, Active Cruise Control, Touchscreen Cockpit Management System with Satellite Navigation and Bluetooth phone connectivity, heated steering wheel, power tailgate,
The Range Rover-esque exterior styling tweaks have done much to neutralise the previous incarnation's slightly more aggressive appearance. The upmarket changes continue inside, with a more sophisticated-looking fascia design and plenty of plush wood and leather upgrades.Under the skin, the car gains a new 3.0-litre diesel engine, which has been pitched as the mainstream choice for UK buyers. This engine is quiet, efficient, powerful and flexible - just what you need for a multi-use luxury SUV. The Sport is a glorious way to cover long distances effortlessly and rapidly and it works as a luxury car better than nearly any conventional saloon. The extraordinary off-road ability is probably wasted on a car that will spend most of time with two wheels on the kerb stones of affluent city streets, but once youve experienced the Sport up to its bonnet in fast flowing water or crawling down a steeper-than-45 degree slope, you cant help admiring it even more. But most of all it finally has that Range Rover magic on offer. That intangible something that makes you feel youre in a great car. The Range Rover Sport is now the best buy for a luxury, sporty ''I want just one car but it has to be go

This rare incarnation of the E46 M3 is seen by many as the closest alternative to an M3 CSL, and with a faster steering rack, beefed up brakes, lightweight CSL style alloys, as well as a dedicated track mode available at the flick of a switch, the CS is certainly a wolf in wolfs clothing. The CS has a sharpness and accuracy that the M3 never quite attains. You will realise that the ride seems flatter, less disturbed by sharp lumps and bumps passing beneath the wheels. Being the last of the production E46 M3s, the CS also comes with an alcantara trimmed steering wheel and hand brake lever and was produced in very low numbers only 233 were supplied in total in RHD for the UK market, making it rarer than the M3 CSL. Within its segment there are no other options, the RS3 excels in practicality and power delivery with its intoxicating engine note providing the answer to people that opt for a compact four-wheel-drive car with need for space and four doors. The Audi RS3 is a very specialist piece of equipment. It is a car that is devastatingly quick as a road car. Drive with a little reserve though and it is a great choice. It will not be as sharp around a race track as some rivals, as there is just too much weight in the front end, but as an all-weather performance car for the road, it takes a lot of beating. This one owner extreme hatchback comes in Nardo Grey paintwork and black with Crescendo red stitching Fine Nappa leather with diamond quilting. Long list of optional extras include: RS 3 Design Package, 19in Alloy Wheels in High Gloss Black, Bang & Olufsen Sound System, Black Styling Package, Brake Calipers Painted in Red with S3 Logo, Technology Package Featuring Aud

While the first TT was a design icon for its concept car styling, the new one is a driver's car through and through. But that is not to say it doesn't boast major aesthetic chops. The innovative cabin, stunning Virtual Cockpit, and laser-sharp exterior are stunning from every vantage point, and the interior layout makes so much sense we wouldnt change a thing. Inside the TT you will notice something missing - the center screen. It does not have one. The reason for this is Audi's Virtual Cockpit, a brilliant 3D display that routes everything from stereo control to Google Earth navigation to safety data onto a 1,440 x 540 digital readout in front of the driver. Everything is accessible via a series of switches on the steering wheel, which gives the interior a 'pilot-centric' feel and a minimalist look. What's more, it operates at a smooth 60 frames per second thanks to a Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, its brighter than an iPad (so the passenger can see everything clearly), and its standard on every TT. This third-generation TT Roadster's exterior transformation is subtler than its futuristic interior makeover, the latest TT's more angular lines and an overall tougher appearance especially

On the one hand it?s luxurious and cossetting, on the other it?s quick and surprisingly entertaining. Although the idea of a fast and sporty Land Rover SUV may seem like a contradiction, the Range Rover Sport has the acceleration and handling dynamics to make it a serious player in the high-performance SUV market. Introduced in 1989 in an attempt to drag the aging 911 concept into the rapidly approaching new decade, the 964 was first offered only in four-wheel drive Carrera 4 form, to showcase new technology and to prove that the 911 was a safe and surefooted car. The 964 also boasted conventional coil springs instead of the previous torsion bar suspension, a 250bhp 3.6-litre engine with twin spark plugs per cylinder which allowed the use of 95-octane fuel despite a compression ratio of 11.3:1. Inside, the classic five-dial dash remained, albeit updated with an array of warning lights hidden within the dials. The gear lever was shorter and sportier and, at long last, the 911 had simple to understand heating controls. Steering a 964 is intuitive, with the lithe chassis ably coping with any twist or turn you throw at it. Turn in is instant, with the feedback from wheel keeping you in constant communication with the road surface. Its excellent dynamics are aided by the wonderful M64 flat six engine, which provides a swell of torque low down, while retaining that wonderful howling Porsche 911 soundtrack at the upper reaches of the rev counter. The icing on the cake is the cars charming mix of cl

The first water-cooled 911 represents the ultimate taming of the once wild rear-engined Porsche sports car and a face lift model of a 996 has very broad appeal. If you want a healthy dose of both performance and luxury, and that classic Porsche shape still holds sway with you, the 911 Cabriolet makes a compelling argument. Porsche for 2002 has given the Porsche 911 Carerra models a larger, more powerful engine and a new look inspired by the 911 Turbo. Increasing displacement of the six-cylinder boxer engine in the Porsche 911 Carrera models to 3.6 liters from 3.4 liters, along with other powerplant changes, has boosted horsepower to 320 from 300. Additional modifications increase torque and provide more powerful and smoother engine response. This seal Grey example comes with black leather interior and small aluminium trim package. See the list below for detailed specification.
