One of the few coachbuilders to create special versions of the Shadow was Mulliner Park Ward, although as it was owned by Rolls-Royce, it was well-placed to do so. Its two-door coupé and convertible had been around since 1965, but became known officially as Corniches in 1971. Britain’s most expensive car at the time echoed the mechanical layout of the Shadow, but with even more lavish levels of equipment. Despite the saloon becoming the Shadow II a year later, the Corniche’s title wasn’t amended at the same time. Dropheads nowadays command a sizable premium.
