Rochdale made a success of supplying bodies for the specialist car industry. Its glassfibre shells were found adorning a number of specials – so much so that it started making full cars. The best selling GT (a coupé version of the Rochdale F racing body), was designed specifically to work with Ford Popular running gear. It was an advanced design, with sleek styling, a curved windscreen, and doors and bonnet that came ready fitted. One of the main bonus of the coupé roof was the lack of chassis flex – a lesson learned for subsequent models.
