1995-1999 RENAULT Sport Spider specifications

The plan with the Sport Spider was similar to that of the mid-engined 5 Turbo a decade earlier. The Spider was used in various one-make motorsport championships, the aluminium chassis and composite bodyshell keeping weight down to 854kg. The road car was slightly heavier than the racing version, but still retained all the ingredients of a competition tool, albeit one with a rock-hard ride quality that soon proved wearisome. Power came from the 150bhp Clio 16v engine, which propelled the Spider to 60mph in 6.5-seconds.
