Renault stuck extra length onto the boot and bonnet of the 8 to create the 10. Quite what the reason for this was is unclear, and perhaps even Renault themselves didn’t know, for the model only lasted three years from 1969 to 1971, and was still known as the 8 in some countries. However, in its homeland, it was a 10, as it was in the UK too. Aside from the big nose and plumper rump, changes from the 8 were minimal save for the fitment of a five-bearing 1289cc engine at the rear to give a top speed of 82mph from its 48bhp. Handling was better too.
