Some 1119 classic, sports and supercars and 5635 people descended on Brooklands on New Year’s Day for the huge annual meeting at the historic site. With first-footers able to park up on the Surrey speedbowl’s recently reopened finishing straight for the first time, the venue was fit to bursting with many classics also lined up along the Home Banking.
The weather was kind for the most part, but a series of downpours around lunchtime put pressure on the inside space and led to an early exodus or cars.
That meant that, having been thronging in the morning, the site was looking a bit Spartan by mid-afternoon, which was a bit of a shame for late-comers.
Treats earlier in the day included a popular Tatra 603 that had crowds around it continuously, plus a modified Jensen C-V8 that aims to set a new speed record on Bonneville Salt Flats. Here are a few of the highlights:
