Origine RS event set for second running after successful 2014 debut.
Hundreds of classic Renaults are set to descend on West Sussex once again for this year’s Origine RS event at Goodwood.
The weekend of August 22nd will see Renaults from across Europe come together on the hallowed tarmac at Goodwood, with everything Alpine or Renaultsport invited to attend.
This year’s event will focus on the Renault Clio V6, a car that put the marque comfortably within the bosom of the world’s hottest hot-hatches when it came along in 2001.
The inaugural Origine RS event in 2014 was met with massive interest, with the likes of the Renault 5 Maxi-Turbo and Gordini 8 all making an appearance.
Shaun Williams, co-founder of Origine RS, told Classic & Performance Car that he was keen to build on the success of last years event. 'The turn out last year was fantastic, having in excess of 140 vehicles with just about every road going Alpine or Renaultsport represented', Shaun said.
'This year will see the largest gathering in 10yrs of the mid engined R5 turbo in the UK. We are also celebrating 15 years of the Clio V6 and 60 years of Alpine. We are already at over 150 cars, and plan to build on each years event to hopefully make Origine RS the UK event for Renaultsport and Alpine enthusiasts.'
Despite its reputation as a modest car company, Renault is one of the industries most successful on the track, with near-unparalleled success in Formula One and Rallying, since its inception in 1899.
