The fun-to-drive SUV may be an oxymoron, but Porsche has gotten one step closer to proving the concept with the GTS version of its Cayenne. This model is, except for the outrageous Turbo editions, the most expensive and best performing Cayenne and a fraternal twin to the V-8?powered Cayenne S. The revised V8 engine gets direct injection to improve throttle response, and yield an extra 20bhp over the standard "S". It sounds great, too - the engine putting out some impressively deep-chested harmonics which can be hardened further by switching to "Sport" mode and deploying some acoustic flaps within the exhaust. The lowered, and slightly stiffened, steel suspension gives it an edge on its air sprung siblings in terms of agility and steering response. This low mileage example comes in GTS Red (available exlusively for this model) with black leather/aluminium trim interior.
