Silverstone Auctions will offer a 2004 Porsche Carrera GT at the Race Retro auction, alongside a great selection of supercars
Silverstone Auctions is hosting its annual auction at the Race Retro show over 27-28 February, as well as a new competition-only sale on 26th. The star is arguably the fantastic Porsche Carrera GT, estimated to sell for £400,000-£450,000, which will be joined by a Jaguar XJ220, Lamborghini Murcielago SV and almost 100 other cars.
The Carrera GT was Porsche’s first full-on supercar since the high-tech 959 of the 1980s. Although the car was ground braking in many other ways, the approach was completely different thanks to a high-revving, mid-mounted V10 engine, and a convertible roof to make the whole experience all the more thrilling.
Just 1270 were built by Porsche, and this GT Silver Metallic example was originally sold in the USA in 2004. Featuring a fantastic specification, including air-conditioning, Bose HiFi, Porsche Online Pro Satellite Navigation, adjustable steering column, electric windows, buckets seats, and carbon ceramic brakes with yellow calipers, this car was imported to the UK in 2009.
In total, the Carrera GT
has covered 18,018 miles, and since being in the UK has been subject to a full service at Porsche Reading (at a cost of £8305), as well as being fitted with a suspension raising system at RUF in Germany.
Commenting on the car, managing director of Silverstone Auctions, Nick Whale said: ‘This is a beautiful car and with its Italian counterpart and competitor from the era, the Ferrari Enzo, fetching premium prices, the Carrera GT is a car to be taken seriously. This wonderful example from a private collector is one not to be missed.’
