1988 Porsche 959 to star at RM Sotheby’s Monterey sale.
A Porsche 959 is set to star at next weeks RM Sotheby’s auction in Monterey.
The 1988 Porsche will cross the auction block as part of ‘The Pinnacle Portfolio’ in California with just 21,100km on the clock. The 959 is expected to fetch up to $1.3 million.
Thanks to its astonishing performance figures, the 959 is considered one of the greatest supercars of all time. This example is just one 337 units ever to leave the Porsche factory under the power of its 2.85-litre twin-turbocharged engine.
All 450bhp of the car was originally delivered to Spain in1988, before changing hands two decades later. It was then sold on in 2011 to a private owner in the United States, who gave the car a major service following the purchase.
It will arrive at California alongside a host of other supercars, including a 1998 LM-Spec McLaren F1 ($12,000,000–$15,000,000), a 2005 Ferrari Enzo ($4,000,000–$6,000,000), and a 2008 Koenigsegg CCXR ($900,00–$1,300,000).
