Porsche 911 twins offered – original and restored cars head to auction

Porsche 911 twins offered – original and restored cars head to auction Classic and Performance Car

A pair of almost identical Porsche 911s will head under the hammer later this month at H&H Classics’ next auction. One’s original and the other is restored, so take your pick!

It’s one thing to find one exceptional Porsche on offer in auction, it’s quite another to find two. Later this month, H&H Auctions is offering a pair of 1967 911 S identikit ‘twins’.
One of the cars is a completely original and unrestored Porsche 911 – a rarity given its age of 50 years. While its ‘twin’ is in exactly the same sand-beige colour and is only 300 chassis numbers from its sibling. Indeed, the pair may have been in the same batch in Porsche’s Stuttgart plant.
The first twin – in original condition – was sold new in the USA by Nick Cilibert Motors of Reading, Pennsylvania to a man from Dallas, Texas in August 1967. The first owner then passed the car onto an acquaintance from Florida in 1979, who kept the car until 2014.

Coming with matching numbers and a Porsche Classic Certificate and service book, the unrestored car has always been well maintained, and has recently received a sympathetic mechanical overhaul. In this condition, it’s estimated at £220,000 to £250,000.
The second car also found its first home in Texas in 1967 and was then bought from another Floridian – from Tallahassee – in 1979. Remaining in a private collection until 2015, the car’s current owner had the car completely restored and the car underwent a comprehensive 1500-hour rebuild. The car now has fresh bodywork, and has been treated to a cathodic dip coating for maximum rust protection. The estimate is a very similar £220,000 to £240,000.
The Porsches will go on sale at the next H&H Classics sale at The Imperial War Museum, Duxford on March 29.
