Factory built in 1991 by Beck Development in Chuck Becks Upland, California facility. After its completion, it was cosmetically transformed to resemble in every detail the most famous 550 Spyder, James Deans Little Bastard. It was then used in the 1996 David Cronenberg movie CRASH starring James Spader and Holly Hunter. In this movie that characters reprise the actor James Deans fatal 1955 accident in his original Little Bastard. Though it is titled as a 1957 VW, THIS IS NO KIT CAR. It boasts a 3 inch twin tube ladder frame that runs the length of the car. The main body and floor pans are riveted and bonded to the frame rails which makes this car extremely rigid. It is only the 62nd Beck ever produced and it bares the factory serial number 00628. Many period correct options have been installed by its owner over the years including GT outside mirrors, leather rear bonnet straps, conversion to original style 5 bolt wheels with front disc brakes. In 2010 the engine was updated by Bergmann to a 2498 CC with period correct Porsche style fan shroud with a cost of $7000.
