A/C service, springs, control arm bushings, and seat belts plus engine was removed for an engine out repaint at a cost of $4,600. $3,098 for a full interior kit, etc on 1/14. All together, over $22,000 was spent on this GTO in the past few years, not including the high quality repaint and wheels and tires. The repaint looks like it cost $10k plus. The 6554 CC (400CUI) V8 350 HP engine with Quadra-jet carburators was fully revised in 2007 in Holland (invoices are present). Car has TH400 automatic gearbox. 1970 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am VIN: 72AS18 In the days before our modern 186-mph Y-rated tires, street tires were street tires, and race tires were race tires, and never the two shall meet - until the T/A. The B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A was the first American-made tire that was DOT rated, and also had SCCA approval for track competition. In order to prove the new tire had what it took, B.F. Goodrich looked for a team and a series to run a street tire in professional competition. They found a perfect partner in Terry Godsall and Jerry Titus' T/G Racing. They had built a trio of Pontiac Firebirds for the 1970 season. At the end of the season papers were signed, and the Firebirds became Tire Birds. This car was the third of three cars built by Jerry Titus' T/G Racing for the 1970 Trans-Am season. Driven by Canadian champion John Cordts, Don Pike, and Larry Dent, this car was raced in Trans-Am, the 24 Hours of Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring, and SCCA events. B.F. Goodrich took stock T/As and shaved off half the tread and had them put on the 3,200 lbs racecar. POA The 8 cylinder Star Chief convertible was the prestige model from Pontiac at the time. Available in Deluxe and custom trim options. Purchased from a couple in the USA had been restoring the car however had not quite completed the restoration. Imported into the UK then subsequently on to Jersey 25 years ago by the current owner who completed the restoration and included some upgrades. An impressive motor car that drives very well and is in overall excellent condition. Rust free and in very good condition. Presents very well with good paint and chrome however it was noted the front wing has very slight damage. Excellent, see images. In very good order with recent upgrades to include a 12 volt starting system, (batteries and starter), radial tyres, aluminium radiator, and an electric cooling fan.
