1961-1973 NSU Prinz 4 specifications

When the NSU Prinz 4 arrived in 1961, it was the height of small car fashion. Aside from the Mini, all of the important European baby cars had their engines slung out back, and many were still air-cooled. The Prinz 4 was well-built and packed with nice features – disc brakes and a slick all-synchromesh gearbox made it a pleasure to drive. However, time passed it by, and as the opposition went front-wheel-drive, NSU didn’t have the resources to develop a suitable replacement. The company run out of money, and was taken over by the Volkswagen group.
