McLaren M23 on display at Watkins Glen

Following on from last year's Watkins Glen 50th anniversary celebrations, the International Motor Racing Research Centre (IMRRC) will be displaying a McLaren M23, the very car that won its debut race at the Argentinian Grand Prix in 1975. Emerson Fitipaldi drove the car, also taking the win at Silverstone the same year.

This particular M23 took part in 25 Grand Prix races (29 overall races) and had podium finishes in the hands of Fittipaldi, James Hunt and Jochen Mass. With Mass at the wheel, the car finished fourth at the 1976 U.S. Grand Prix at Watkins Glen, its only running at the Glen.

The IMRRC is dedicated to the preservation of motor sport history. To learn more about the centre and its work, visit the website www.racingarchives.org

M23/9 is indeed currently in residence at the Racing Research Center at Watkins Glen, and it is splendid. Just a note however, the Research Center is not located at the Watkins Glen race track (as indicated above). The Center is located in the village of Watkins Glen at 610 S. Decatur Street.
