Octane contributor and former columnist Rowan Atkinson spent the night in hospital following being involved in an accident in his McLaren F1 on the A605. According to the BBC he has suffered from a minor shoulder injury.
The accident happened when the £1m-plus F1 hit a tree and lamppost and caught fire on a treacherous stretch of the road. The BBC also reports that he walked from his McLaren F1 and waited with a motorist until an ambulance arrived.
A spokeswoman for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: 'Crews brought the fire under control by 8.13pm. They made the vehicle safe and used one hose reel to put out the fire. There was one casualty but he was not trapped.'
Rowan Atkinson is an experienced circuit racer as well as motoring features writer, and he has featured in Octane magazine numerous times. His F1 starred in an F1 vs Veyron shoot-out in Octane in 2010.
