Alfa's 4C Concept has just made its first appearance at Geneva, and it looks fantastic! The rear-engined, carbon fibre coupe - which is set to go on sale before the end of 2012 - will make use of the 250 bhp Alfa Romeo 1.75-litre turbo four-pot, as found in the Giulietta.

You can see the influences from the 8C supercar, but this concept previews the all carbon fibre chassis tub, designed and engineered by Italian firm Dallara. This composite chassis, first used in the KTM X-Bow, as well as aluminium subframes, will help to keep the overall weight down to about 850 kg, with a 40:60 front to rear weight distribution.

Performance claims are impressive, with a 0-62mph time of less than five seconds, and it should easily hit a top speed of over 155mph. Said to be the spiritual successor to the iconic Duetto Spider, the new car will cost around £38,000 when it hits showrooms at a similar time to Alfa’s 159 replacement, the Giulia.
