The world’s first retro styled ‘Shell’ shop was unveiled on Sunday March 21, and the opening celebration uncovered a treasure trove of interesting cars, trucks and bikes. Magic of Motoring Limited is the global custodian of the pre-1980 Shell brand, offering an exclusive range of official vintage clothing and artwork, available for the first time on the High Street.
Activities based around the Magic of Motoring shop on the High Street included a display of 50 vintage scooters and motorbikes parked alongside a ‘60s Petrol Pump Island. In the courtyard, Export 56 presented a fine line up of Porsche classics, including several 356s, a beautifully restored 911 2.7 RS Touring and a Frazer Nash.
More than 2500 people enjoyed this display of cars, which also included the Works Shell Dunlop Porsche 962 Driven by Hans Stuck and Derek Bell, along with an ex-Paul McCartney Aston Martin DB6. In the display overlooking the River Ouse, Magic of Motoring recreated a vintage race scene with Shell liveried Trucks and Race Transporter, an original Factory built Porsche 914/6 GT and a Porsche powered Psychedelic Beach Buggy.
Mick Pacey CEO of Magic of Motoring commented: ‘We have all worked extremely hard to make the day happen and what a relief the sun shone! The event has been so well supported locally and there is huge demand for more of these events in Newport Pagnell - one of the world’s most historically important motoring towns’.
