The SM was launched at the Geneva Motorshow in March 1970, and quickly became a classic in the eyes of Citroen enthusiasts. As is the case with most Citroens, you either love or hate the SM, with the mixture of the sleek Robert Opron designed body and Maserati V6 engine producing an automobile quite unlike anything else. Utilising the Citroen Hydropneumatic suspension, brakes and steering gave the car a totally unique driving experience.
