4000, and still counting

The 4000th Murciélago rolls off the line

Just nine years after it was introduced, the Lamborghini Murciélago has hit the record-breaking production-run of 4000 cars. The event was celebrated at the Bolognese factory, and the LP 670-4 SuperVeloce that left the production line is now destined for its new home in China.

When the Murciélago was put into production back in 2001, nobody knew for sure whether it would be a success or not. Since the beginning, the Murciélago has been an unbridled success for the company, and this year celebrates car number 4000 rolling off the Bologna production line, a record production run for any V12 Lamborghini.

With a replacement expected soon, Murciélago production is drawing to an end, but this 4000th car signifies what has been a very lucrative decade for the company. Compared to its predecessor, the Diablo, the Murciélago has sold 1200 more units, showing a genuine demand for the car.

Commenting on the occasion, Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann said: ‘The enthusiasm our products incite makes us proud and confirms that the company’s product strategy and model range are a winning combination, producing exceptionally desirable super sportscars’.
