The news secures the Swedish company's future, although how much of that involves the continued manufacture in Sweden has yet to be announced
Volvo is heading into Chinese hands. Ford has finally brokered a deal to sell the much-loved Swedish manufacturer to Chinese giant Geely. Ford has said that there is still ‘some work to do to complete the deal’ but it is likely to be finalised in the Spring. 

The news secures the Swedish company's future, although how much of that involves the continued manufacture in Sweden has yet to be announced. The sale of Volvo means that the once-powerful Premier Auto Group, which comprised of Land Rover, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Licoln and Volvo no more. Geely's acquisition of the Volvo marque shows yet again that Chinese manufacturers are looking for overseas expansion, and buying established marques is a means of accelerating their ambitions.

Fellow Swedish firm Saab's future is still looking bleak despite a last minute lifeline thrown to Spyker by GM, following original announcement days ago that the struggling American giant plans to wind down the company.
