Gosh I hope Sir Stirling reads this. The seminal moment that led to my obsession with performance cars was meeting you, and having you autograph my programme, after you'd driven a D-type at an historic meet at Amaroo Park in Sydney when I was about eight years old. I wish you nothing but happiness for your retirement. If only more modern drivers looked to you for inspiration. The last of the gentleman racers.

Hope that you have a long and healthy retirement Sir Stirling. You are all that a gentleman racer should be (and who could forget that 1955 Mille Miglia).
