We fully intend to continue to implement what Steve Earle has developed
Steve Earle has confirmed that he will be stepping aside as the Monterey Historics weekend, and the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP) would take over. Steve has been running the series of events for 36 years.

Earle, who founded the vintage racing event, made the announcement Sunday night following the awards presentation of the 36th annual Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races. A press release accompanied the announcement: 'General Racing and SCRAMP have come to an amicable agreement as to the future of Historic racing at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.'

Gill Campbell, CEO/general manager of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, confirmed the role Earle will play in the transition at the 2010 event. 'We fully intend to continue to implement what Steve Earle has developed,' she said. 'We will confirm that the present integrity and authenticity of this great event will go on.'

'SCRAMP is proud to continue the legacy General Racing began,' she added in the release, 'And we are excited about the prospect of opening a new chapter in historic racing at America's premier road racing circuit,' with the 37th annual Monterey Historic Automobile Races.

Historics

Living only 3 hours from this event and attending yearly, I would hate to see it come to an end. What would I do in August?
