The Lenham GT Challenge

Just for A-Series racers

An exciting new race series for pocket-rocket A-Series powered GTs...

Sebring Sprite, WSM, Mini Marcos, Mini Jem, Ashley, Ogle, Fletcher, Deep Sanderson, Unipower and similar cars of this genre are all to be made welcome to this exciting challenge...
Since the early 1960s the Lenham name has been synonymous with the amateur racing driver wishing to improve what may be referred to as the ‘mundane’ into something more glamorous. In the quest of individuality and a wish to improve the breed, Lenham produced a bespoke range of add-on body panels that quite literally transformed early Frogeyes and Midgets into pocket Ferrari GTOs on an affordable budget.

Since original founders, Julian Booty and Peter Rix sold on the Lenham bodywork concern some years ago there has been a lull in production but all is to change under the new ownership of Shaun Rainford – the founder of racing and restoration specialists Classic Cars of Kent.

Shaun Rainford of the Lenham Motor Company has agreed to host the Lenham Challenge for special body, small bore GT cars. This invitation Challenge is not confined to Lenham-modified cars alone but wishes to encompass all like-minded derivatives, based around the ubiquitous BMC ‘A-Series’ powerplant. Thus Sebring Sprite, WSM, Mini Marcos, Mini Jem, Ashley, Ogle, Fletcher, Deep Sanderson, Unipower and similar cars of this genre are all to be made welcome to this exciting challenge.

The Lenham Challenge will be run by Julius Thurgood, who needs little introduction as the founder of Top Hat Racing, with the races to be held in conjunction with Masters Historic Racing. The first event is set to take place within the Masters Cloth Cap 45-minute enduro at the Bentley Drivers Club meeting at Silverstone on the August 8-9.

The Lenham Motor Company will provide hospitality, trophies and a commemorative gift for all drivers entering this fabulous inaugural event.

For more information, contact Julius Thurgood via email direct@juliusthurgood.co.uk or on +44 (0)1926 885835 or +44 (0)7850 361159.
