American racing legend Bobby Rahal’s Silverstone Classic debut will see him jump from behind the wheel of a Chevron B16 FVC in the World Sportscar Masters, to the co-driver’s seat of a diminutive Mini in the under two-litre Touring Car race (U2TC).
I’m especially looking forward to co-driving Joe Twyman’s fun and agile Mini and helping him leave the others behind!
Historic racer Joe Twyman has enlisted Bobby’s help to challenge Joe’s boss and race driver Roger Wills in the U2TC. Rahal and Twyman will field a feisty Mini Cooper S against Wills’ Lotus Cortina; the latter is prepared to the same specification as Sir John Whitmore’s, which took second place in the 1964 European Touring Car Championship.
Bobby Rahal said: 'All the grids at the Silverstone Classic are very competitive: I know that both the Chevron and the Mini will be prepared to the highest standards in their categories but I’m especially looking forward to co-driving Joe Twyman’s fun and agile Mini and helping him leave the others behind!'
