A 1965 Aston Martin DB5 Vantage, sold for a world record price at auction of 414,500 euros at the 'Weekend de l'Excellence Automobile' held on the former site of the French Grand Prix circuit of Reims-Gueux on 11 September 2010. Exceeding its pre-sale estimate of 300,000- 400,000 euros, the beautifully presented Aston Martin DB5 Vantage is one of only 17 LHD models manufactured to Vantage specification with a manual 5 speed transmission and has only had two previous owners

Four other Aston Martins made the top ten lots illustrating the enduring interest in this classic brand. The DBS vantage 1968, yet another ‘James Bond’ Aston Martin that featured in the 1969 film ‘On her Majesty’s Secret Service’, sold for an impressive 103,000 euros. An Aston Martin Vantage 1995, which was the fastest ever produced on its introduction in 1993 sold for 92,000 euros.

Philip Kantor, European Head of Cars for Bonhams said: 'We are delighted with the enthusiasm of the packed sale room in Reims Gueux at this historic venue and clearly the results reflect the continuing "bullish" collectors car market for prime examples of rare models of great marques.'
