A car that is very rarely seen for sale, the Ferrari 250 GTO, is currently being offered to the public via private treaty sale, mediated by RM Auctions. The car in the spotlight is a 1963 Series II GTO, Chassis No. 4675 GT.
RM Auctions have an extremely good track-record when it comes to
selling Ferraris, and with seven of the top-ten highest price Ferraris
going through one of their auction houses, this rather special Ferrari
shouldn't disappoint. There is even a possibility of breaking the
all-time record for most expensive Ferrari ever.
This GTO is
one of only 36 ever produced, and comes with excellent provenance,
having been raced by the likes of Guido Fossati, Jean Guichet, Oddone
Sigala, Vincenzo Nember and Luigi Taramazzo. During its racing life,
'4675 GT' proved itself a tremendously capable racing car, rarely
finishing outside the top three in its class and achieving numerous race
wins. This particular GTO features the slightly more unusual Series II
bodywork, and originally left the factory painted in Rosso Cina.
Max
Girardo, Managing Director of RM Europe said: 'The Ferrari GTO is
unquestionably one of the most iconic and coveted cars in the world.
This is truly a rare occasion for collectors to acquire such an
important piece of automotive history and we are pleased to be chosen by
4675 GT's current custodian to represent it on the open market.'
'4675
GT' has been with the same Japanese collector, Yoshiho Matsuda since
1996, and has participated in the exclusive GTO-only events, reserved
for GTO owners. It was most recently shown at Pebble Beach back in 2004.
