Mecum Auctions is going up against Bonhams & Butterfield, RM and Gooding & Co in its first sale to be held during the Monterey Week. Mecum’s Monterey Auction will take place at the exclusive Hyatt Regency Monterey Resort & Spa on the Del Monte Golf Course, add promises a line-up of ‘100 extraordinary cars.’

Cars will be displayed outside the Hyatt Regency Monterey’s beautiful, centrally located site while the bidding arena will be staged in a 10,000-square-foot ballroom. It offers buyers yet another opportunity to purchase something special during the most exclusive classic car gathering on the calendar.

President Dana Mecum said: ‘We are is starting a new chapter by expanding into new market areas. Although we have specialised in muscle cars, our expert team is extremely knowledgeable about selling exotic sports cars, classics and other high-end collector vehicles. We’re looking forward to giving attendees a new event they’re sure to never forget.’

Mecum has been around for 20 years, specialising in the sale of muscle cars and Corvettes, and the move into the mainstream is a significant development for the company, as well as the Monterey Week.
