JD Classics entered three special Jaguar’s into this year’s Unique Special Ones event, scooping up a number of awards, most importantly the ex-Clark Gable XK120 Alloy Roadster taking the award for ‘Overall Best Restoration’ in its class.
The Concours event in Florence, Italy is dedicated to unique cars that are significant in terms of rarity or history – including famous previous owners.
The E-type FHC (6162 RW) was a factory press and development car, and chassis No. 10 off the production line. It won overall ‘Best in Class’ and ‘Best in Class for Styling’ within the Dolcé Vita category.
More awards came courtesy of a second E-type, this one was the first Roadster ever delivered into Switzerland. Within the ‘Swinging Sixties’ category, it won overall best in class, best in Class for ‘Originality and Restoration’ as well as best in class for ‘Styling’.
Clark Gable’s XK120 is still warm from winning its class at Pebble Beach, and managed to take yet another award for its portfolio – the ‘Overall Best Restoration’ in its class.
The Maldon-based classic restoration specialist will be opening its doors to visitors on Sunday 28 October for the ‘Breakfast at JD Classics’ event, where John Surtees OBE is confirmed to be making a guest appearance.
