Octane took a little time out from the Kuwait Concours to visit its national motor museum. The Historical, Vintage and Classic Cars Museum was established to reflect Kuwait’s heritage tradition and to preserve vintage vehicles in the region.
Given that the emir Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah is well-known for being a car enthusiast, it's no surprise to learn that the museum is centrally funded, and houses a number of his cars. But it's more than just a place to view the collection - the museum is also encouraging enthusiast motor clubs to gather at the facility, as well as visit the library and resource centre.
The museum is open from 9am to 1pm and 5pm to 8pm and is in the Shuwaikh Industrial Area of Kuwait, Block One, Street 49. For more information visit www.kuwaitcarmuseum.com.kw.
Here's a gallery of a selection of the cars on display.
