Silver Arrows to race at Goodwood

More than 75 years since the first pre-war Silver Arrows cars raced in the UK, the legendary German Grand Prix cars will drive in anger at the Goodwood Revival

The once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the famous Silver Arrows Mercedes-Benz and Auto Union Grand Prix cars once again being driven in anger at a British motor circuit for the first time in 75 years will make the 2012 Revival a must-attend event

Goodwood has confirmed that the legendary pre-war Silver Arrow race cars will be making an appearance at the Revival, with at least ten Mercedes-Benz and Auto Unions racing along side their contemporary British and Italian rivals.

This will be the first time such a display has taken place in the UK, or worldwide, since the original Grand Prix races over 75 years ago. It's being described as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and it's unlikely that so many of these rare and valuable cars will race together for a long time, if ever.

So far confirmed to appear are the Mercedes-Benz W25, W125, W154 and W165, plus examples of the Auto Union Type C and Type D. They will all be racing, with well-known top-level racing drivers, although names are still to be confirmed.

Octane will be covering the event as usual, to keep up with all the latest Revival news, be sure to bookmark our Revival index page.
