Two new big exhibitions will be appearing at the Motor Heritage Centre during 2012, the first being 'Motorgraphs' - a celebration of automotive photography - The other will be the 'Motoring Record Breakers' exhibition, which celebrates the various British automotive records over the years.
'Motorgraphs' is the result of a collaboration between the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust (based at Gaydon), the Zagari-Spitzley Collection and the Grand Prix Library. The exhibition at the heritage centre will feature a gallery of twelve images, a selection of the best pictures the three image libraries have to offer. The main aim of this exhibition is to promote the new Motorgraphs website, which contains over 3000 archive images from the last century, available for purchase online as a print or canvas. The exhibition takes place between 28 January and 26 February, and entry is included in the standard museum ticket.
The other big attraction to the Heritage Centre during 2012 will be the 'Record Breakers' display, which brings together a selection of British automotive record breakers, from the sublime to the ridiculous. The Sunbeam 1000hp Mystery will be one of the star attractions - being the first car ever to hit over 200mph - as well as the steam car Inspiration, which currently holds the land speed record for a steam powered car.
Tim Bryan, Head of Collections at the Heritage Motor Centre commented 'Our Motoring Record Breakers exhibition is an exciting collection of amazing vehicles which we are thrilled to be exhibiting. Featuring an eclectic mix of vehicles – some of the giants, and minnows, of motoring history, the exhibition will bring them to life with both adult and child-friendly interpretation. This exhibition really is a must for everyone - not just car fans!'
