Now in the sixth year, Schloss Dyck Classic Days, the well-proven mix of Concours d‘elegance, race demonstration on the track, and picnic in the fields by guests arriving in their own classic cars, was enjoyed by more than 27,000 spectators.
The whole area around the castle was transformed into a perfect hommage of the 'good old times' of motoring – straw balls and period information signs, an evocative event programme, and an all-round olde-world feel.
Mercedes Benz celebrated its 125th anniversary with the Benz Patent Motorwagen replica, presented by Jutta Benz, great-grantchild of Berta. For the 100th birthday of Juan Manuel Fangio his famous '658' 300 SLR was showen by Hans Herrmann. The first car with the Porsche brand, the T64 Berlin Rom Wagen (as featured in Octane issue 99) was seen both on the lawn and the track.
'Best of Show' was won by the Mercedes Benz 710 SS Cabriolet/4 and a special run of the Benjafield Racing Club with 20 pre-war Bentleys under leadership of the roaring Mother Gun was held. But also Rallye action with Porsche's 911 Paris-Dakar and Toyota Celica Group B foud it‘s way to the park.
This great event has been dubbed the 'German Goodwood' by many of the showgoers, but in truth Schloss Dyck has an atmosphere all of its own, thanks to the huge commitment of the organizers.
