Report: Solitude Revival

FORTY-SIX years after the last race was held at this legendary track located just outside of Stuttgart in the Wildpark area, the racers came back with a vengance! The former F1 and GT race track was closed in 1965, and could name winners such as Jim Clark, Jack Brabham and Dan Gurney among its roster of the successful.

Nowadays, the track is now part of a public road, but that doesn't stop enthusiasts meeting here every weekend. Glemseck, Schatten Kurven and Frauenkreuz are the most popular locations. However, for the Solitude Revival the public roads were closed off as around 600 cars formed a spectacular parade and the drivers demonstrated their cars for a crowd numbering more than 20,000

Many winning cars from past winners list showed up, the Porsche 804 formula one car driven and won in 1962 by Dan Gurney together with a strong line-up of Lotus single-seaters.

Hans Herrmann, local hero and Le Mans winner in the 1970 Porsche 917, took the wheel of the various cars from Porsche museum, including a 718 grand prix car. Maserati 250F, Ferrari 156 'shark nose' and Talbot Lago T26 Grand Prix cars with ex-Jochen Rindt Lotus 49 and 72, nicely arranged in the paddock with correct race transport truck.

GT-class cars were also strongly represented by Ferrari 250GTO and Porsche 904, both cars found in the winner‘s list in period together with stunning Maserati Bird Cage.
