The new California Mille event, held during Monterey Week, is not officially sanctioned by Mille Miglia, as stated in Octane, issue 98.

Correcting what we stated in issue 98 regarding the California Mille event, taking place during the Monterey Week, the event is not officially sanctioned by MAC Group, organisers of the Italian event.

A statement issued by MAC Group states: 'The only official event allowed to have the Mille Miglia brand, or accordingly, the famous Mille Miglia red arrow logo, is the North America Tribute, which is recognized by MAC Group, Meet Communications, and Sanremo Rally, in agreement with the Automobile Club of Brescia. Stratus Media Group Inc., a live entertainment company based in Santa Barbara, CA, is the only official sub-licensee of the Mille Miglia and is the only organization licensed to use this Logo and Brand in all of North America.

'As already underlined in a previous official statement, the Automobile Club of Brescia, owner of the world famous Mille Miglia logo and brands, does not recognize the “California Mille”, “ The Art Center Monterey Tour”, “Martin Swig” and or his event club events or other events promoted with the Mille Miglia handle; all of which have been noticed with a cease and desist by the Automobile Club of Brescia.'
