An estimated 1000 Chevrolets from across Europe descended on the historic Swiss watch making town of La Chaux de Fonds, the birth place of Louis Chevrolet, to celebrate the American company’s centenary.
The town centre was closed to all but Chevrolets, which lined both sides of the main street for a good half a mile. Just about every imaginable type and model of Chevrolet from throughout their history was represented from early artillery wheeled roadsters, big fin tailed 1950s extravagances, 1960s muscle cars, Corvettes, commercials, station wagons and pick up trucks through to the latest Camaros and the new Volt hybrid.
Parades of significant cars headed by marching bands and cheerleaders, live bands, merchandise stalls and plenty of cafes and bars all made for a carnival atmosphere. Now if only all car shows were this good!
