Circuit Nevers Magny-Cours may live in the shadow of the more illustrious French GP venues, such as Reims, Dijon-Prenois and Le Mans, but it’s still a great facility and within a couple of hours’ drive of Paris.
Now it’s the home of Classic Days. This large-scale classic gathering attracts thousands of visitors and what seems like as many cars, and in 2011 promises to be very special indeed. Guests include Alain Prost and Guy Ligier – whose F1 équipe was based at the circuit – on hand to celebrate Magny-Cours’ 50th birthday. Other big anniversaries being honoured are the Jaguar E-type’s 50th, and Chevrolet’s centenary.
Classic Days is split into track driving, a static exhibition of classic cars, a tour, circuit parade (which has to be seen to be believed) and the excellent ‘classic village’ trade area. Make a long weekend of it and enjoy the drive down, too. More at www.classic-days.fr.
