The Donington Historic Festival marks the return of frontline historic racing to one of the UK’s greatest circuits. The track, which looked as though it might have been without a future two years ago, is challenging for drivers and excellent for spectators, and the event promises an exciting weekend for historic racing fans.
The festival is going to be spectacular. It’s confirmed for two days, and stars 300 historic racing cars. Donington is returning to the classic car season with a bang.
The organisers are pitching this as a family-friendly event, and organiser Duncan Wiltshire confirms that the Donington Historic Festival is going to be keenly priced.
‘We know that the cost of taking the whole family to a historic motor sport festival can seem prohibitive, so we have decided to make ticket prices affordable. The popularity of historic motor sport has rocketed in recent years. The Donington Historic Festival offers all the thrills of the top, established events, but at a family-friendly price.’
Adult entry costs £18 in advance, for which spectators will experience an enormous variety of racing action covering the 1930s to the ’80s. The festival includes Group C Le Mans sports cars, Porsche 917s and Ferrari GTOs, pre-war Bentleys, Bugattis and Alfa Romeos and more. There is free paddock access, so everyone can get up close to these amazing racing machines, plus off-track displays and action, Group B rally cars, historic karts, autojumble and memorabilia stalls, cafés, bars and food outlets – and club displays of selected classic marques.
