The entrants lined up at 9.00am to parade their concours cars through the prestigious Kuwait Marina. As a location for a concours, there's little doubt that it hits the spot – the backdrop of multi-million pound yachts and skyscrapers is astonishing, while crowd that clapped the cars on was appreciative and knowledgeable.

This year's line-up is a truly international selection, with the best cars coming from Europe, the USA, Japan and the Middle East. The cream of the selection is undoubtely the special-bodied cars, such as the gorgeous little Zagato Alfa Romeo, Ghia Fiat and Lamborghini's amazing Miura Spider.

The concours judges are knowledgeable, too. Designers Leonardo Fioravanti, Tom Tjaarda and Chris Bangle all made guest appearances, as did celebrated Lamborghini test driver, Valentino Balboni. And there's a great atmosphere at the event – a real case of East meets West in a shared passion for exquisite cars.
