The fifth ‘Classic Days at Schloss Dyck’ promised to be the greatest classic car event in Germany, and with such an amazing line-up of cars, it would be difficult to disagree. Featuring historic racing car demonstratios, a classic paddock in the castle’s courtyard and a Concours d’Elegance, there was a lot for the enthusiast to see and do.

Two Auto Union ‘Silver Arrows’ were performing demonstration laps - a Typ. A from Belgium collector D’Ieteren and a Typ. D from Audi Tradition. Mercedes-Benz showed the rare Uhlenhaut Coupé with local legend Hans Herrmann at the wheel, with the '70s C-111 Diesel Rekordwagen also making an appearance. Porsche came with a Gulf 917K and Le Mans winning 936/77 together with the 908 Targa Florio spyder.

The best racing action of the day was the post-war ‘Monoposto’ group with a number of MGs and even a Maserati 250F. The pre-war racing cars were lined up in the picturesque courtyard, and it was nice to see the armada of Kompressor Mercedes, Bugattis and Bentleys in front of the old stone walls.

Beacause of Alfa Romeo's Centenary celebrations this year, the iconic Tipo 159 and a P3 were both driven on track and Toyota reunited nine 2000GTs for the first time in Europe. Bentley turned up with Stanley Mann’s ‘Mother Gun’ and ‘The Other Gun’.

The event was hosted at Schloss Dyck Castle, near Düsseldorf, and all proceeds go towards the up-keep and restoration of the castle and grounds. Track timing was looked after by the German police force, which officially supported the event.
