Preview: Goodwood Festival of Speed

Here's Octane's pick of all the new metal on display at the 2010 Goodwood Festival of Speed...

McLaren MP4-12C

Aston Martin

The £1.25million limited-edition One-77 will get its widest audience viewing yet at Goodwood. The 7.3-litre V12 powered hypercar will make trips up the hill climb on each of the three main days.

Audi

Audi’s electric supercar – the e-tron - will be starring on the hill. Although there will be no soundtrack to accompany the R8 based prototype, it's guaranteed a favourable reception dur to its blistering pace and great looks. Reguar R8s will also be taking on the famnous hill.

BMW

It’s a feast for BMW fans at Goodwood, with the 1940 Mille Miglia-winning Touring Coupé on display, as well as the stunning M3 GT2 Art Car. In addition, the Z4 sDrive35is and 5-Series Touring are due to make an appearance, while BBC F1 host Jake Humphrey and legendary commentator Murray Walker will be on the company’s stand for interviews and to meet fans during the Festival.

Lexus

Toyota’s luxury arm used to stand for sedate saloons. But the LFA hypercar has ripped up Lexus’s image. The £350,000 V10 two-door will roar up the hill every day until Sunday. In addition, the firm will display the Gazoo Racing LFA that contested the recent Nürgburgring 24 Hours.

McLaren

Produced with the input of Lewis Hamilton, the MP4-12C aims to set new standards for supercars. To demonstrate its cutting-edge design and engineering, the model will be driving up the hill on all three days of the festival – and it will be the first time for the public to see the McLaren in the metal.

Morgan

Morgan’s Festival of Speed stand will be displaying the Aero SuperSports, Roadster Sport and the 4/4 Sport. In addition, a lucky few Aero SuperSports customers will be given passenger rides.

Porsche

Taking centre stage at the Porsche stand will be the GT2 RS. The 612bhp 911 will go on sale in September with a list price of £164,000. The German marque will also be presenting a host of historic racers including a Le Mans winning 917 and the 908 Spyder which took victory at the 1970 Targa Floria.
