The Midsummer Classic and Thunderball

ANY NEW CONCOURS event is a welcome addition to the calendar. Held at the exclusive Stoke Park Country Club and Resort, this event capitalises on the location's links with Bond in such movies as Goldfinger and Tomorrow Never Dies. The Berkshire concours celebrates Aston Martin across the decades, with at least 50 of the finest models expected, including the DB4GT Zagato, ‘2 VEV’. Tickets cost £95, to include entry to the event, Pimms reception, alfresco buffet and afternoon tea.

The Thunderball is a Bond-themed black-tie ball in the evening, and tickets are still available at £295 which also gets you into the concours in the day. For more information contact CTR Events on

CTR’s Nicholas Mee said: 'I’ve long had an affinity with Aston Martin, but it wasn’t until I visited this wonderful place to photograph Vanquish for our house magazine, FullBore, that I became fully aware of Stoke Park. To find a venue of this quality, with its magnificent Palladian mansion and 350 acres of parkland, and all less than an hour from London makes it really rather special. It’s the perfect setting for our fresh and innovative motoring lifestyle event.

'In addition to a world-class Concours D’Elegance we will have an impressive array of new Aston Martin models on display, including the sensational One-77 supercar. It all combines to set an exceedingly high standard for future Mid-Summer Classics.

DETAILS ABOUT CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE
Upwards of 50 cars expected to take part, with separate classes according to different production eras: cars built at Aston Martin’s Feltham, Newport Pagnell, Bloxham and Gaydon factories. There may also be a class for racing cars. Support has been strong, with confirmed entries including the world famous DB4 GT Zagato ‘2 VEV’, which is regarded as one of the most valuable Aston Martins in existence and several other important Aston Martins from the 1930s to the present day.

In keeping with the Mid-Summer Classic’s relaxed atmosphere, the panel of judges will comprise a mix of experts, journalists and car loving celebrities. Under the guidance of a Chief Judge, the panel will assess each car on its authenticity, but in break with Concours tradition, and in an effort to allow head and heart to have equal say in the judging process, the panel will also be scoring the cars on style, character and provenance. Guests will also be encouraged to vote for their favourite car, with a special prize being awarded to the most popular car of the day.

Entries to the Concours d’Elegance are still being received and anyone interested in submitting an entry should contact the event organisers, CTR Events, for an entry pack.
