It was the perfect day for fans of Lotus – and the covered car parks perfectly complimented the show itself, which was organized by Alan Morgan and all at Club Lotus, all the Lotus Clubs were in attendance such as Lotus Drivers Club, Historic Lotus Club, Lotus 6 Register and many more.
Over the weekend there was the largest collection of Lotus Sixes for many a year (10 on Saturday and 14 on Sunday), yet again the show was supported by Clive Chapman and his Classic Team Lotus crew, displaying JPS72 and 91 and much memorabilia, even putting up for sale a Lotus 72 nosecone.
A rare find was the Lotus 19 now owned by Olav Glassus who discovered and restored the 1964 racer of Rod Coweth, the car was raced in the mid sixties by Rod Coweth then retired to a museum for the next thirty years. Now fully restored by Lotus collecter Olav Glassus, the 19 will return to the tracks this summer and will arguably be the most original 19 around.
As normal for the Club Lotus show you could buy anything Lotus related from obscure spare parts, books, models or even complete cars, as Paul Matty had some of his stock on hand to be sold. The first Lotus Grand Prix victory was celebrated by a Lotus 18 similar to the one that Stirling Moss used to win at Monaco in 1960.
Over the two days over 5000 Lotus fans paid to enter the showground and over 1000 Lotus cars attended filling the parking area.
