Set in a rural Staffordshire location, ‘E’ type specialists Lanes Cars has expanded its premises to accommodate additional workshop facilities including a dedicated metal working area. To celebrate both its expansion and the 75th anniversary of Jaguar Cars - and perhaps as a preamble to the E-type's own
50th anniversary next year - Lanes Cars is inviting guests to an open day on 5 June 2010. All proceeds from the ‘Callingwood Classic Home and 'E-type Jaguar Charity Day' will support the Donna Louise Children's Hospice and Staffordshire Air Ambulance.

Both past and present clients and guests will be welcomed with either a Champagne breakfast or a Pimms afternoon at Callingwood Hall Farm at Tatenhill near Burton-On-Trent. The event will be an opportunity to see close up and at first hand the meticulous detail and quality engineering that goes into every one of Lanes Cars rebuilt E-types, and the day will include question and answer sessions with Martin Lane and his experienced team.

During the day, Chris Rooke will be signing copies of his new book E-type Jaguar DIY Restoration & Maintenance, published by Porter Press who also run the E-type Club. This practical and often humorous account of Chris’s restoration of his Series II FHC is priced at £29.99, but the first ten guests at Callingwood will receive a free copy. Leading Jaguar parts supplier SNG Barratt will also be in attendance, and no doubt a gathering of E-types will grace the car park.

As a diversion - and in some ways complementing the classic Jaguar theme - guests will also be able to visit the neighbouring studio of renowned interior designer Marguerite Harrison. She will be available to demonstrate the very latest fabrics and collections, accompanied by live cookery demonstrations. All in all, the day should abound with style and panache and, being held in June, could also be blessed with fine weather.
